I think we had both accepted our solitude, sitting alone in our apartments, just letting life pass us by. We had both been in serious relationships that left us hurt, and neither of us were eager to open ourselves to that pain again. Then we met each other. Then, we spent months pretending we had no interest in the other, neither of us cueing in the other that from the day we met we both felt that pull, that interest. It didn't take days or weeks after we met, it was instant and neither of us were willing to hint to the other that it was present at all. Until a cool night in November, closing up together trying to figure out what to do for dinner. "Taco's and margaritas" I joked. He shrugged, "Do you want to?". And thus the ball was rolling, fast. A week later we were dating. A year later engaged. Now, one year after that, we're getting married! Turns out when the bets are off, you've been dealt nothing but bad hands, sometimes that's when the pieces fall into place. Sometimes that's when you meet the person that you can laugh with for hours on end. We got lucky enough in the vast sea of people to find each other, when we were least expecting it.
