Built in 1837, it stands as the inaugural parish church in the Mesogeia region of Attica. Sacraments such as baptism and marriage have been celebrated here since 1850! The Greek Orthodox Wedding Ceremony is filled with rich traditions and symbolic rituals, and we'd love to share a few details to help you feel comfortable and prepared. Ceremony Customs: The Crowning: Crowns (stefana) are placed on our heads, symbolizing unity. The Common Cup: We will share a cup of wine, representing the joys and challenges of marriage. The Dance of Isaiah: We'll circle the altar three times, led by the priest and our koumbaro (sponsor), to symbolize our first steps as a married couple. Guests are welcome to stand or sit during the ceremony, whichever feels most comfortable to them. After the ceremony, we will celebrate with dinner and dancing at Hatzi Mansion! Shuttles will be provided to take you to the church and Hatzi Mansion for your convenience. More details will be shared soon.
