This hotel is located right in the heart of Old Town and is only 5 blocks from the waterfront! It is about a 10 minute drive from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport by shuttle/taxi/uber and 30 minutes by public transportation. The area is very easy to navigate by foot and by public transit and we hope to eliminate your need to rent a car for the weekend. We would love it if all of our traveling guests would stay in the same location, but we understand if you decide to make other arrangements! Flight

Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport

If you are flying, DCA will be the most convenient airport to come into. If you choose to stay at The Alexandrian Hotel, it's only about 10-15 minutes from the Airport by car. The Alexandrian provides complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. The shuttle runs every day from 7am to 10pm (leaving the hotel on the top of each hour and leaving the airport on each half hour). Please call the hotel (703-549-6080) when you land to request a pick-up. If you do not arrive at a convenient shuttle time, we suggest Uber/Lyft/Taxi in order to eliminate car rental and parking fees ($32/day at the hotel). If you chose to take public transportation, there is a metro stop right at the airport. There are two lines (yellow and blue) that will take you ONLY 2 STOPS from the airport to Old Town Alexandria. PLEASE let us know if you would like to utilize public transportation and we would be happy to explain everything to you!

Flight

Dulles International Airport

The drive from Dulles to Alexandria will be about 45 minutes. There are public transportation options, but they will require multiple transfers and nearly double your travel time. Let us know if you decide to fly into Dulles and we will help you figure out the best way to make it to your hotel!

Flight

BWI Airport

If you choose to fly into BWI (Baltimore), it will take you anywhere from 50 to 90 minutes to get to Alexandria. Flights can sometimes be significantly cheaper in and out of BWI. Let us know if you decide to fly into this airport and we will give ground transportation suggestions!

Train

Amtrak

Amtrak is another great option if you are traveling far enough and do not want to drive. There is actually an Amtrak station in Alexandria (right next to the Old Town metro station). The trains that come to Alexandria are typically a little more expensive and run less often, but it would eliminate the need to take metro to get between Alexandria and Union Station in DC.
