Best Man
Mark and Ilya are cousins and have known each other for over 20 years. They lived hours apart but were inseparable as children and constantly begged their parents to spend summers together. When together they played basketball, played with trading cards, collected rocks and coins, and competed in quite literally everything they could. As adults, not much has changed!
Maid of Honor
Jenna and Savannah met in the sixth grade and are an excellent example of "opposites attract". They bonded over kitchen s'mores and backroad drives to the beach between school and lacrosse practice. Since graduation, they cannot seem to stay on the same coast, with one leaving as soon as the other makes the cross-country move. Clearly the universe realizes that they would be too powerful if reunited for too long.
Groomsman
Stavros and Ilya lived together for 3 years while studying at Cal Poly. During that time they'd play basketball together, talk about sports, discuss current events, and talk about the future. They both share years of memories together from their college days between struggling with school, Cal Poly's financial aid department, and fun stories from over the years.
Bridesmaid
Amairani and Savannah were an inseparable duo that took their roles as Editors of their high school paper very seriously, so they could often be found in the Journalism classroom together. After making the realization that they were born in the same hospital two days apart, they made it a mission to celebrate as many birthdays together as they could, even if it meant commuting between San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara during college.
Groomsman
Isaac and Ilya met in 2016 online through a game called Rocket League. They'd eventually end up making their own eSports team which didn't really win anything of importance besides a great friendship for them both. Isaac is from Canada and made a few trips to spend a week with Ilya in the states. Regardless of how busy life is, they find a few hours every week to hop on Rocket League and complain about how bad they are at it.
Bridesmaid
Grace and Savannah are both science nerds and often found themselves in classes (and even an internship) together through middle and high school. After all that hard work though, she was often coerced into marathons of High School Musical (the sing-along versions) and Harry Potter with Savannah.
Groomsman
Jacob and Ilya met during college when Jacob and June started dating around the same time Ilya and Savannah did. They were both into video and board games, rock climbing, and trying out new food places. They are kings of the double date and have had lots of practice. The most notable of those being when the four of them used summer vacation to go to as many local happy hours as they could and rank them.
Bridesmaid
June and Savannah met on their very first day of undergrad at Cal Poly when they were assigned to the same Week of Welcome orientation group (shoutout group 186). They must have hit it off pretty well considering they then lived together (oh my god they were roommates) for the last 3 years of college.
Groomsman
Dawda and Ilya met through Mark when he was going through his community college years in New York. Every time they have a chance to meet, they make sure to compliment each other as much as they can and boost their (already big) egos. Dawda is the life of the party and one of the most positive people Ilya knows. We can always expect him to get everyone into some trouble in the best ways possible!
Bridesmaid
Lana and Savannah also met their very first day at Cal Poly thanks to their placement in the same Week of Welcome group. They loved their experience together so much that they went on to lead orientation groups together for the next two years (shoutout to groups 179 and 810). Lana’s freshman dorm room was also the go-to hang out spot so Savannah spent almost as much time there as she did in her own room.
Groomsman
Marshall is Savannah's brother and met Ilya when they started dating in 2018. They both enjoy talking about football and basketball and quickly got along. They also often join forces to poke fun at Savannah and have been together for a lot of fun and memorable family events over the years.
Bridesmaid
Cynthia and Savannah met for the first time on Cynthia’s wedding day. And while her husband is technically Ilya’s cousin, they were practically raised as brothers making her and Savannah pseudo-sisters-in-law. When together, they can often be found exploring local restaurants or watching Mark and Ilya get overly-competitive with each other.
Groomswoman
Emily and Ilya met at Cal Poly when they were both training to be WOW orientation leaders. They both bonded over their common heritage and being raised by Eastern European families. They led a transfer student orientation group together and stayed great friends afterwards. They frequently went on Sushi dates and enjoyed discussing nutrition, fitness, and life goals.
Bridesmaid
Gabby and Savannah were members of the same 13 person cohort in graduate school. Unfortunately, this coincided with the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, which made making new friends a bit difficult at first. However, they soon discovered and bonded over their shared love for patterned pants when Gabby complimented Savannah’s pants and then showed up the next week with an almost identical pair. The rest is history.
Groomsman
Ilya and Ian met through Julia and Savannah's friendship in New Haven. Ian would frequently visit Julia and would always make time to nerd out with Ilya while the girls went out together. They could be found together in the corner of the bar talking about spreadsheets, coding implementations, and optimizations while Savannah and Julia tore up the dance floor.
Bridesmaid
Julia and Savannah also met through their graduate program at the University of New Haven. It is only natural that they bonded so quickly because everyone knows that a Harry Styles obsessed person needs a Taylor Swift obsessed counterpart. You could often find them befriending the bartenders at Bar Pizza or dancing on elevated surfaces.
Honor Attendant
Odile and Savannah were introduced by Julia, who just seemed to know how well they would click. Unfortunately for them, their entire friendship has been a long distance one considering they live three timezones apart. Despite the distance, these twin flame Geminis have made the best of it between cell phones and weekend trips.
