Philadelphia Food Scene

Philadelphia food is bold, flavorful, and often a little messy—shaped by generations of immigrants and rich culinary traditions. At the top of the list is the iconic Philly cheesesteak, followed closely by the roast pork sandwich (try it at Reading Terminal Market or John’s Roast Pork). Other local favorites include Philadelphia soft pretzels (Philly Pretzel Factory), tomato pie (Sarcone’s Bakery), water ice (John’s Water Ice), scrapple (commonly found at breakfast spots), and the hoagie—a Philly-style sub served on a soft Italian roll (Cosmi’s Deli and Angelo’s Pizzeria are great choices).

Sports

The Philadelphia Phillies baseball team is not playing at home during the wedding weekend, but if a bar has a TV, it will likely be on! The Philadelphia Eagles will be hosting the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday, August 28th at 8 PM at Lincoln Financial Field. Please be mindful of traffic on I-95 and the Schuylkill Expressway, as congestion will begin early due to tailgating and will be heavy again after the game. Allow extra travel time, especially around the airport area.

Philadelphia Zoo

As the first zoo in America, it is located in historic Fairmount Park. It’s globally renowned for its trail system, which allows big cats, primates, and other wildlife to roam through mesh trails suspended above visitor pathways. In addition to all of the animal viewing, a few highlights include KidZooU (the children’s zoo and education center), a towering Ferris wheel, and topiaries crafted from living plants.
