Savanna and Juan met while serving as missionaries for Life Teen at Camp Hidden Lake in Dahlonega, GA in 2019. They worked together the next summer and became friends. Unknowingly, Juan already developed a 'small' crush on Savanna. In the summer of 2021, Savanna and Juan worked closely together for 3 months. Cooking in a kitchen together all day every day, they formed a bond while serving the Lord through hospitality for guests at camp. During this time, Savanna was committed to a dating fast, an intentional time where she promised to focus on herself and her work before entering into a new relationship. This time proved to be incredibly hard for them as they loved each other from afar. Throughout this time, the Lord started to stir in their heart that something would come of this friendship but that they both had to trust in His timing. Soon enough, Savanna left camp in August 2021 to return to Florida State University and ended her dating fast. She wasn't even home yet when Juan had already asked to come visit! A few days later, Juan and Savanna had already went on their first date and took a leap of faith and said, "Why not just start dating too?" They did long distance for a few months when they both realized they desired to be closer together and so did the Lord too! Soon enough, Juan moved to Tallahassee to pursue Savanna more intentionally, something she would be forever grateful for. During Savanna's senior year, they would navigate their relationship, share the many ups and downs of life, and learn that the Lord was calling them to give themselves fully to each other through the Sacrament of Marriage. With much ease, Savanna said yes to Juan's proposal on Easter of 2022. From this time forward, they're deeply committed to uniting themselves to each other and the Lord, along with their families, especially on May 20th, and every day after. They look forward to sharing every part of life together and raising a family in the years to come. They are so grateful for everyone that loves them and especially for the gift of their lives that will soon become one they share unto eternity, "So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. And the Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. Then the man said, 'At last this is bone of my bones, And flesh of my flesh; She shall be called ‘woman,’ Because she was taken out of man.' For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh." - Genesis 2:21-25
