Our story began on a fun, lively night at Saddle Up, the local country line dancing bar. It was April 6, 2024, when our paths crossed. We both went there intending to have a fun, care-free night and maybe learn a new line dance or two. We didn’t realize how special of a night this would be for the both of us. We immediately got introduced to one another as we have mutual friends. Jack built up enough courage to create some small talk with Savanna. Her friend, Ashley, noticed this and nudged him a little to go and buy her a drink. He picked up on the hint and after that, the night was solidified. We connected instantly and talked the whole night, completely forgetting about the line dancing. Although we weren’t supposed to see each other for a few weeks due to Jack’s travel plans, fate had other ideas. Jack’s trip was unexpectedly cancelled, allowing them to go on our very first official date just days later. Our first official date consisted of dinner at Fire + Wine and drinks at Common Good Cocktail House in Glen Ellyn. That night turned out to be so special for the both of us and that’s really where we got super connected and close. As time passed, our bond grew even stronger. Savanna’s occupational therapy fieldwork placed her closer to Jack’s house, and we found more ways to connect, share experiences, and enjoy each other’s company. Most of our nights consisted of FaceTime’s for 6+ hours after hanging out. All it took was a couple more weeks before we wanted to make things official. May 10, 2024 was the day we officially became a couple. This date so happens to include Savanna’s favorite number, 10, and she prefers even dates. Jack made sure to pick this date and take her to some of her favorite places, Chef Soon for sushi and Coldstone for ice cream! Only just a few weeks later, Jack found the perfect moment to officially profess his love for Savanna. This took place after a night out at the famous piano bar in downtown Saugatuck, Michigan. We sat down at a table waiting for a cab to come pick us up and that’s where Jack decided it was time to officially say “I love you”. Fast forwarding to August 16, 2025, a day we’ll never forget. We had planned a weekend getaway to Lake Geneva with our parents, but little did Savanna know, Jack had something much bigger in the works. While we were out at lunch, Jack had secretly arranged for Savanna’s whole family to sneak into the house we were staying at to be able to view his proposal from the second floor. For the proposal, a white runner with roses was set out in the backyard. Savanna’s initial thought after seeing it being “Aw is someone getting married today?” not realizing this was planned out for her. It was the biggest surprise and one of the best days of our lives. After saying “yes” of course, we got to celebrate the start of our forever surrounded by family and lots of love. Now as we are less than a year away from our wedding, all of the planning and preparation for our big day is starting to go into effect and we can’t wait to start the next chapter of our story. Surrounded by family and friends, we’re so excited to celebrate our love and the journey that brought us here today.
