Meow of Honor
Geni is Savannah and Travis’s beloved baby cat who has graciously accepted the role of Meow of Honor. At 9 years old, she’s been with them their entire relationship, and frequently lets Savannah know that she was Travis's girl first. She is a princess with a big personality. Geni runs the household with a velvet paw and expects to be worshiped accordingly. She may not make a physical appearance at the ceremony, but trust us — she’ll be judging from afar.
Bridesmates
Abdel and Erika are Savannah’s ride-or-dies from the trenches of big tech, where their friendship was forged in the dumpster-fires of the company they worked at. Brought together by a love of earth science, software engineering, and mutual survival instincts, the Dream Team supported each other through toxic executives, pandemic chaos, and way too many Slack messages. Five years later, Savannah and Abdel are coding side-by-side at a new gig, and Erika remains the third point of the triangle — powerful from afar. One day, the Dream Team will be reunited in full. Until then, their bond remains unbreakable (held together with memes and takis).
Officiant & Cousin
Matt is Savannah’s cousin, but after living with Savannah and her mom during his high school years, he quickly became more like a brother. Their bond is built on shared holidays, a mutual love of nature, and similar career interests. Matt’s background in fisheries, hydrology, and geospatial analysis led him to a career with the Forest Service in Oregon, while Savannah pursued geology, natural history, and eventually geospatial software engineering. Matt is curious about everything, effortlessly skilled on both surfboards and skateboards, writes his own music, and is known (lovingly) as the family’s resident devil’s advocate. Amber and Matt met in 2022 and got engaged recently. They are both loving dog parents and great cooks. Amber is an easy addition to the family - A fellow naturalist and Forest Service professional, Amber shares a love for the outdoors and public lands. She carries her own grounded wisdom, and warm presence. Savannah is honored to walk down the aisle with Matt, and both Travis and Savannah are honored to have Amber officiate their wedding ceremony.
Bridesmaid
Savannah and Anais first met at Cal student orientation in 2012, but their friendship took root a few years later when Anais joined the earth science department with Savannah. From then on, they shared classes, labs, field trips, and plenty of wild, unforgettable adventures through the Geology Association at Berkeley (GAB). Savannah’s first trip to Lake Tahoe was with Anais - a geomorphology camping trip spent hiking and mapping prehistoric glacial traces. Since college, they’ve stayed close through annual camping trips to some of California’s most beautiful parks, including Yosemite, Channel Islands, and Sequoia & Kings Canyon. Now Anais is finishing up her doctorate in Environmental Public Health at UCSD. Savannah was proud to stand by Anais as a bridesmaid at her wedding, and now Anais returns the favor - their friendship rock-solid thanks to a shared love of nature, science, and inappropriate jokes.
Bridesmate
Barrett is Savannah’s cousin, but growing up as only children living nearby each other, they were more like siblings than cousins. From childhood adventures to family holidays, they spent countless hours together. Barrett has since moved from Southern California to Montana, then to Southern Utah, following his passion for cooking and sharing his talents as a chef. He is known for his easygoing charm and quick wit, he’s the kind of person who can make anyone laugh and feel at home. Barrett doesn’t take life too seriously - unless food is involved - and brings humor, and good vibes wherever he goes.
Groomsman
Travis and Bryan grew up as neighbors in San Clemente, spending countless hours gaming everything from Pokémon to Dragon Ball Z. When the usual rules got boring, they made their own — from inventing “Mail Room” in Smash Bros to turning Pokémon cards into a game of War, they always found new ways to play. More than a gaming buddy, Bryan was a trusted confidant through the challenges of growing up. Though they may not live as close or talk every day, Bryan will always be a lifelong friend and chosen brother.
Bridesmaid
Grace and Savannah met in 2014 while interning at the American Museum of Natural History - Savannah in paleontology, Grace in microbiology, and quickly bonded over a shared love of biology, politics, and cat worship. Grace helped Savannah fall in love with NYC, especially its food and rich history, and their friendship has stayed strong ever since. Grace continued on in biology and is now a professor at Baruch College, still in New York City, but she and Savannah stay connected through texting political complaints, cat photos, and occasional visits.
Bridesmaid
Savannah met Helen years ago through their mutual friend Kristen, and their friendship blossomed over girls nights and sharing bridesmaid duties. A true NorCal native and genuinely one of the kindest people you’ll ever meet (probably too nice to be friends with Savannah, if we’re being honest), Helen is the kind of person everyone hopes to have in their wedding party - supportive, calm in a crisis, and always ready with a comforting word or helping hand. Now living in the Bay Area, Helen is on the path to becoming a lawyer, guided as always by her strong moral compass.
Groomsman
Travis met James during his first semester at Cal during TKE rush, and they hit it off over long hours studying (and suffering) in the College of Chemistry. That academic bond quickly expanded into shared chaos — the two became roommates at the TKE house, where they spent most of their time playing Civ 5 with an ever-rotating cast of fraternity brothers in hilariously titled roles and occasionally “testing” the fire alarms (don’t ask). These days, they’re both still in the Bay Area, catching concerts when the stars align and gaming together more nights than not.
Bridesmaid
Kristen is Savannah’s longest friend - they met in kindergarten and have been best friends since. From elementary school through middle school, they were inseparable partners in dance, basketball, and Girl Scouts. In high school they practiced cross country, and went to proms together. In college, they split California in half, Kristen south at UCLA, Savannah north at UC Berkeley - but kept their bond strong through holiday meetups, camping trips, and occasional visits. If you need embarrassing pictures or other blackmail on Savannah, Kristen is the most likely person to have that. Now Kristen lives in Monterey County with her husband and adorable baby boy, Teddy, and works for Google. Savannah was honored to be Kristen’s bridesmaid a few years ago, and is so excited to now have her by her side on her own big day.
Bridesmate
Noel has been Savannah’s best friend since middle school - a bond that carried them through awkward adolescence, high school chaos, and college life together at UC Berkeley. Through every stage, they’ve had each other’s backs, offering unwavering support through all the growing pains of youth and young adulthood. Noel now lives in Sweden with his adorable pup Dusty and travels the world for work, putting his four fluent languages to good use. Despite the distance, he and Savannah stay close through yearly visits and a friendship that’s spanned decades.
Bridesmate
Patrick is Savannah’s brother and confidant, but they didn’t meet until about 10 years ago through 23andMe. As donor siblings, they share DNA, a love of ramen, dark humor, and about 30 other siblings (some known, some lurking in the data). Despite being 23 days younger and about a foot taller, Patrick and Savannah clicked instantly. Though he lives in Salt Lake City, Patrick has family in the Bay Area, so the two get to reunite about once a year… and in between, they stay connected by sending each other the most bizarre, disgusting jokes they can find online. True sibling love.
Bridesmate
Shawn has been a close family friend of Savannah’s since 2011, when they met through mutual friends in Ventura and quickly bonded over biology, nature, animals, and a shared love of dark humor, cynicism, and general misanthropy. Over the years, Shawn became a regular presence at family holidays - and during the pandemic, took it to the next level by moving in with Savannah and her mom, where the three locked down together for over a year and somehow lived to tell the tale. These days, both Shawn and Savannah are back in the Bay Area, and Shawn is living the dream as a botanist specializing in carnivorous plants and orchids.
