Matt is an introvert who overcompensates socially. As a talented maker, artist, and builder, Matt also likes to work with his hands, a commonality that definitely attracted Sarah's attention in the beginning. When he's not at his day job, Matt enjoys working on his motorcycle, a Harley Sportster. While he is an edge-lord, Matt is mostly soft and marshmallow-y in the center. You just have to dig deep. Really, really deep. Or be a pitbull. Despite this, Matt will not let Sarah get a third dog.
Sarah Saunders

Sarah is an extrovert with social anxiety, and has the attention span of a goldfish. When her mind isn't ping-ponging from one non-sequitur thought to the other, she sometimes accomplishes things. Her best accomplishments typically include making nice things with her hands, including but not limited to: jewelry, metal objects, baked goods, and the occasional DIY beautification project. She likes to put glitter on everything, despite being 33 years of age, and will never say no to anything shiny or sparkly. She'd be really easy to lure into a van and kidnap due to this penchant.
Sarah Gilly
Best Woman
This particular Sarah and Matt go way back. Born a mere 10 months apart, their respective teenage angsts proved challenging in their shared household. However, after they both wound up in Brooklyn as adults, their bond was swiftly repaired over the consumption of Hanukkah latkes (with 2023 marking over 10 years of their renewed bond and massive latke consumption). As an avid birder, Sarah is always down to assist with random bird IDs and fun facts, despite constantly receiving blurry, thumb-in-frame pics of birds from Sarah S. OG Sarah is also the very best dog aunt to Amtrak and Cerbie, and was instrumental in the adoption of Cerbie in 2021. After answering a frantic phone call from other Sarah, 2 hours later OG Sarah found herself shoved in a small Uber with a 80 pound dog that had no understanding of personal space. Now, two years later, Cerbie still does not understand the concept of personal space, and Sarah still doesn't seem to mind.
Sivan Philo

Sivan and Sarah have been close friends for 15 years, ever since the moment Sarah accidentally took the wrong bus home from her brand new high school. After seeing the new transfer kid from his AP English class (Sarah) look understandably confused, Sivan kindly told her the bus was going in the completely opposite direction of her home. This was a fact that Sarah had already figured out with her eyes. Thus, a friendship was born out of panic (Sarah) and concern (Sivan). Since that moment in 2008, Sivan and Sarah have traveled together, complained together, and sent each other more memes than previously thought feasible. When their forces combine, anything is possible.

Kerri Orlando

One of Sarah's closest friends, and the inspiration (and occasional hair colorist) for Sarah's blonde years, Kerri is a true ray of sunshine in Sarah's life. Between their personal version of Mad Men power lunches (aka getting drunk on mango margaritas between studio classes - sorry Tim) and memorable nights dancing half nude at House of Yes, Kerri and Sarah have formed an unbreakable connection of deep love and friendship. Kerri is a wonderfully talented and creative soul, with interests that span from jewelry history and identification, to deep diving in thrift bins for unique and exquisite vintage fashions. She is perhaps the only person whose closet rivals Sarah's in sheer number of clothes (sorry Janel).
Anthony Cava

A dashing combination of rapscallion, artist, poet, and unicorn, Anthony Cava has been a close personal friend of Matt's (and now Sarah's!) for over a decade. Cava has the unique accomplishment and experience of having introduced Matt to his first dumpling of any kind - in this case, it was soup dumplings, to be precise - and from what Sarah has heard, it was a simultaneously embarrassing and painful moment for them both. Given this bumpy introduction, it's almost beyond comprehension to think that Matt is now a bonafide pro with chopsticks, and a connoisseur of many of the various cuisines borne of the Asian continent. While the profile photo may not portray how wonderfully glittery, sparkly, and opalescent Cava's true soul is, let's just say he leaves a trail of sparkles behind in his wake (you all heard it here - Cava does, in fact, poop glitter).
Janel DiBiccari

Janel and Sarah met under awkward circumstances at Dartmouth College, of which they will not reveal to the general public. After they both moved to Brooklyn around the same time, they eventually became roommates for a brief 10 months, during which time Janel amassed a horde of cats. Now she has five. Janel is a brilliant software engineer for Kickstarter, a supremely talented artist, and a passionate runner. She will be running the NYC marathon for the millionth time in November 2023, and her training schedule is usually why she will not get drunk with Sarah on a Friday night (or any other night). She will, however, go to Beacon's Closet with her so that they can both buy more clothes that neither of them really need.

Elizabeth Saunders

Elizabeth has known Sarah since birth, mainly because she is Sarah's older sister. That said, they love each other very much. For the past 33 years Elizabeth has been a constant cheerleader for Sarah (as any good older sister is), and is always available for pearls of wisdom when Sarah finds herself in yet another tight spot. Elizabeth lives in Cleveland with her husband, Chris, and their simple dog, Rory. If you're wondering, yes, Rory is indeed named after Rory from the Gilmore Girls, a show Elizabeth and Sarah would watch together every day after school. Sarah and Elizabeth maintain that the Netflix series "Gilmore Girls: A Day in the Life" is NOT canon, never happened, and is really just a glitch in the Matrix.
Francisco Rey Porzio
Officiant
A close friend of both Matt and Sarah, Francisco is the wedding officiant and will be performing the wedding ceremony. Although he got ordained while the three of them were out at a bar, Sarah and Matt promise he is totally legit. Francisco is a bartender, and the total package. He lives in Bushwick with his feisty cat, Liz, who totally did not claw Sarah multiple times when they first met 7 years ago.
