Love, Labor & Solidarity

Sarah and Jeremy’s journey is one of love, hard work, and a shared commitment to fighting the good fight. Over the years, they’ve built a partnership grounded in the same values they bring to their work within the labor movement: supporting each other through challenges, celebrating moments of joy, embracing new experiences together, and honoring the path that brought them here. Through her first union, United Campus Workers Colorado, Sarah’s passion for writing, graphic design, and social justice led her to a career in labor communications. As a labor organizer with over a decade of experience, Jeremy has dedicated his career to advocating for workers' rights, fair wages, and improved working conditions. He’s worked alongside people from across the country, including nurses, teachers, higher-ed faculty, and tech workers. In 2023, Sarah began her position with the National Association of Letter Carriers, a move that brought her, Jeremy, and their two beloved cats, Catman and Pepper, to Washington, DC, the city they call home today. Sarah and Jeremy's paths first crossed due to a series of unexpected and unlikley events in 2017 involving a trip to Denver to visit friends, a rec soccer team of local union activists and allies, a teachers' rally, and a day at the Colorado Renaissance Faire. Sarah, a New Jerseyan living in Denver, was not impressed by Jeremy’s preference for Taco Bell over pizza, and Jeremy, a Portlander living in Seattle, just wanted to get home. But when he was offered a job with the Colorado Education Association later that year, the timing was right. They got a second chance at first impressions, and their adventures together began. Whether it's organizing for fair contracts, marching in solidarity with workers, caring for the cats, testing their hot sauce limits, or accidentally escalating a little cheese snack before dinner into a cheese board feast, they’ve stood side by side—or on the river, paddle by paddle. For Sarah and Jeremy, love and labor are inseparable. The principles that make their work in the labor movement powerful—solidarity, respect, and trust—are the same qualities that strengthen their relationship. After all, solidarity isn’t just for picket lines. It’s for building a life together (a "labor of love," if you will)!
