After meeting and talking on JSwipe, it took weeks before they could figure out a night to finally meet in person. Andrew was seeing 5 shows in 5 nights and asked Sara if she wanted to go to a Broadway play with him on Friday night. Sara was impressed that he wanted to take her to a Broadway play on our first date and accepted, even without knowing anything about the show they we're seeing. After a preshow drink, they saw Paula Vogel's play Indecent, a beautiful yet sad story set during the Holocaust. Within the first two hours of meeting each other, they both were in tears! Andrew immediately regretted bringing a first date to such a serious show, but at dinner after, it was clear that Sara thought it was so special and it became the first of many experiences they've shared together. After two months of dating, Andrew made it "official" on a date at the New York Botanical Gardens. Ever since then, whether it was trips to Savannah, London, France or spending time with family and friends, they've shared so many special experiences together. They are looking forward to bringing everyone together to celebrate the beginning of their next chapter!
Andrew had planned what he called "Surprise Date 2019", a follow up to the prior year's surprise date where he took Sara away for the weekend and created a series of cards that gave directions for each event of the day. This year's date was billed as the more extravagant surprise date with many bells and whistles...until it wasn't! This time, the first card directed them to go up to the roof of their apartment building. Andrew directed Sara to read the cards aloud. Andrew encapsulated their entire relationship in a series of cards, moving Sara in different directions depending on the location of the event described. By the end, Andrew had the last word, getting down on one knee and proposing. After several speechless moments where Sara kept nodding her head, she said yes! Just when Sara thought the surprises were finished, Andrew had one more in store. Andrew convinced Sara to not tell anyone about the engagement, saying he had set up a private lunch for them to celebrate before telling their families. On the way to this "private lunch", Andrew pulled Sara into a different restaurant than described, where he had all of their families together to celebrate!
