Our love story began during the fall of 2012 in Harrisonburg Virginia where we both attended James Madison University. During my freshman year of college Catherine, my now maid-of-honor, introduced us to some of her mutual friends. Michael was one of the roommates of the friend that we were visiting. It actually took us several visits to their apartment before Michael and I officially met. Once we started talking it was clear that we would be inseparable. We found out that we were both majoring in the science fields, passionate about what we do, and of course for each other. The rest is history.
Fast forward to New Year's Eve, 2019. I was growing impatient! We had checked all the boxes: we graduated college, had started our careers, lived together, and most importantly loved each other. What could he be waiting for?! That morning we went into DC to cheer on our favorite team, The Capitals. We enjoyed our day out in DC then headed home where he cooked a delicious dinner. We listened to music, talked, and played board games trying to stay awake for the New Year's ball to drop. I was becoming increasingly tired from all the fun we had earlier that day. I was ready for bed. However, Michael was suspiciously excited trying to keep me awake. It was finally time to pour our glasses of bubbly. The clock struck midnight and we welcomed the 2020 new year. I turned to kiss him when he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I said about time!
