Shannon airport is closer to cork as Dublin adds on 1 hour extra of travel time. However, at the moment Dublin has cheaper flights. So, we suggest monitoring flights into both airports & whatever is the cheapest option. Dublin also offers buses into cork.
We suggest booking your flight at least 6 months in advance. You can put a flight tracker to monitor and notify you when flight prices are predicted to surge or go down. Typically, tuesdays are the best days to book flights. If you wait too long to book, flight prices might surge the closer you are to the date. Below are the best websites to track. Check asap & try checking multiple sites for the best price before booking! Taner & I were quoted a high price via one site but tried multiple sites & were able to find something more affordable. -GoogleFlights.com -KAYAK.com -Skyscanner.com -Hopper.com
There are no direct flights from NY into Cork Airport. However, if you are looking to add on to your trip you can fly into London or another place in Europe (Maybe explore around a bit & extend your trip) and then fly from there directly into Cork Airport which is typically about an hour flight. If you are willing to do a slight layover then cork would be the easiest to fly into however you will have to do a layover returning home as well. This saves you from renting a car but limits you from touring around if that is your plan.
Yes, Taner and I highly recommend renting a car if you are planning on traveling to different counties before or after the wedding. Cork City is accessible via train and bus to and from the airport and to other cities but we can't guarantee it will be accessible in other counties and or towns you may be interested in. We also suggest possibly renting a van with a large group and splitting costs/driving that way! Please see travel section for suggested buses if you do not wish to rent.
The discounted rate of 260 euro assuming you are splitting between 2 people sharing is being offered for 3 nights which is roughly $150 per person a night. These dates are Sept 5, 6, & 7th. The hotel is offering a rate for the 4th as well however it is €280. If you wish to stay longer or arrive earlier you are more than welcome if they have availability but this rate may not be offered outside of these dates under us. You may be able to work something out with the hotel if you are staying so many nights but please contact them directly. Please do not book through their site as the discount will not be applied.
We suggest booking your room as soon as possible as it is first come first serve. Only 35 rooms will be blocked for our wedding across the 3 days. We anticipate all rooms to be booked the night of our wedding but not all 3 nights as our irish guests may not want to stay all 3 nights even though they are welcome! If you book you will not be charged until closer to the date or upon checkout however they will ask for your card details to secure the room and dates.
We are so sorry if when you go to book there are no more blocked rooms available as we were only able to block up to 35 at the discounted rate. However, you may be able to book a room outside of the block but will have to pay the best available rate they can offer at the time of booking. But don't worry! If the price they quote you isn’t what you were expecting there is plenty of accommodation close by with some in walking distance if needed. I have listed some below. Also, since it is a city and if you want to stay with your group trying looking on Airbnb! Wherever you stay cabs and the bus will be available. There is a bus stop right outside the venue to bring you into the city center. Some places listed below: Rochestown Park Hotel- 4 min drive & 19 min walk from venue. https://www.rochestownpark.com/ Coach House Hotel- 4 min drive & 23 min walk from venue. https://the-coach-house-douglas.corkhotel.net/en/ The Village Hotel- 5 min drive from wedding hotel & 19 min walk. https://share.google/XiNqtxIr4Cn8rVoMa If you wish to stay more within the city centre please see some hotels below. Moxy Cork- 11 min drive. https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/orkox-moxy-cork/overview/?scid=ba372e19-3116-406f-8c8c-cd1679a20d2d&clickref=1011lBzqoLZz&aff=MARWW&affname=10l1110&co=WW&nt=PH
You must call or email the hotel directly with the dates you wish to book and state it is for our wedding & it will be applied. Please email info@maryborough.ie Phone number +353 21 436 5555
No, you will not be charged for cancelling & also will not be charged until you check in. You can cancel up to 24 hours before check in.
It depends on how you would like to plan your trip. If you would like to fly in just for the wedding then we personally suggest flying out thursday night (most flights to Ireland are overnight flights due to time difference, keep this in mind but not all) arriving friday morning and using the day to relax before the wedding saturday and post celebrations sunday. Therefore, we suggest staying the 4th,5th, and 6th flying back home Monday. However, you can stay as long as you want or as less but please keep in mind the discounted rate is only offered the dates we mentioned. You can also just book in the night of the wedding at our hotel and stay somewhere else the additional days.
Although September is meant to be a good month for weather in Ireland you never know what to expect with Irish weather therefore we suggest you bring: A rain jacket Comfortable shoes- Sneakers, boots A sweater The sun may shine therefore still pack light or loose clothing for the sunnier days. It can be sunny & warm one minute, rain the next, or be chilly. Please make sure to pack the essentials: Passport, license, ID, credit cards. Money- Most places allow apple pay especially within the city however if you want to exchange for some euro the airport will offer currency exchange as well as places within the city. Headphones- For the bus/train/airplane if needed Adapter!! Your phone charger will not work without an adapter as they use different plugs in Ireland. If you are renting a car: Bring your license, passport, letter from credit card company showing proof of insurance through your card. (This is what Taner and I have done and other guests I know who have travelled to Ireland) It was super easy. You must call your card company and they will email you the letter. If you need any advice on what else to bring let us know!
Absolutely! If you are only able to make it for the wedding there will still be time throughout the weekend when you can explore & visit recommended places which we have listed in the things to do. Also, on your way from either airport please take in the views during your ride. We suggest the morning of the wedding & day 2 to go into the city or nearby towns as the events do not begin until the afternoon.
Although we love your little ones this will be an adults only event for both the ceremony & reception with the exception of our niece & nephew. We want everybody to be able to enjoy the day! However, if you are unable to leave your little one at home the hotel can arrange a nanny for you for the night of the wedding & and any additional days. Please contact the hotel directly.
Unfortunately we are only able to accommodate those guests formally invited on your wedding invitation. Thank you for your understanding. Please message us if you have any questions.
As of now, Taner & I plan on arriving a couple of days early to settle in before the wedding. If most guests plan on staying the Monday night to relax after the wedding weekend before either flying home or moving on to their next destination we would love to stay that night as well & tour cork with any guests that day. We are unsure of our plans after that.
We suggest using your credit card points to book. Taner & I always book our flights/hotel/car rental using our credit card points. We recommend Chase Sapphire! You use your card everyday so why not get something in return. Completely comps your bookings if you have enough points. Also, I suggest using flight trackers for the best deals. You can often bundle a flight & hotel for cheaper. If you do find something cheaper by doing this & don’t mind not staying at the wedding hotel then please by all means do so! We just hope to see you at the wedding! :)
We’ve personally only ever rented a car through our credit card (chase sapphire) which should provide up to a certain amount in insurance. If you book through your card you just need to contact the card company & request a letter of proof of insurance & provide that when you pick up your rental. You should be able to see how much is covered through your app in the travel section. If you are not booking through your card or have enough coverage I believe you would have to pay for insurance daily. Provide proof of insurance, license, & credit card. You can book ahead of time through any car rental company & visit the booth at the airport for pick up.
If you book a car at either airport & decide to fly back from a different airport than where you rented your car you most likely do not need to worry about dropping the car back to the original airport. When booking your rental just indicate which airport you will be dropping to as most airports have the same car rental companies. Please look into this before booking.
