How we met

Finding love moving furniture

It was fall of the year 2014 on a (probably) foggy evening in San Francisco when Skylar and Sarah were both working the night shift at their undergrad on-campus job. The job was as glorious as it gets: moving tables and chairs, setting up AV equipment, and stealing leftover food after an event. A truly romantic environment. Skylar didn't usually work the same shift as Sarah, but tonight FATE and scheduling had him working an event. A couple coworkers were ordering pizza for dinner and sent Sarah down to ask Skylar if he wanted any. He said no, but his eyes said "Hey girl, u cute, let's be friends forever". And Sarah's eyes said "I'm in". After that, it was only a matter of time, some slam poetry youtube videos, drunkenly singing Wagon Wheel at a bar together and lots of laughters before they were dating and in love.

Our elopement

A pandemic, a couple wildfires, and an elopement (aka: Finding love in a hopeless place)

Yep, we eloped! Skylar proposed April 19th, 2020, a month into the pandemic. We had high hopes at that point that things would be over in a few months and we'd be able to have a wedding to celebrate and party with all our favorite folks! Fast forward a few months and it looked like our optimism was a little, well, optimistic. With the uncertain state of the world, we decided to leave our beloved Bay Area, move back to Sarah's hometown of San Diego, and put our wedding on eternal hold (ugh). BUT, since we met and fell in love in San Francisco, and since we are both sentimental people, it just felt right that we tie the knot there as well. On October 15th, 2020, Skylar's good friend Samir married us atop Mt. Tamalpais in the setting sun. The views were shrouded in a magical otherworldly haze blown in by the many raging wildfires. It was intimate, sacred, and a day we'll always remember. The only thing missing was all the people we loved most in our lives being there to celebrate and support us as we committed to each other.
