Georgetown is a very small mountain town. About a mile from the Microtel Inn and Suites is the Historic Georgetown downtown area that has a nice park, farmers markets, some coffee shops, and restaurants. The Georgetown Lake Park Loop is a nice 1.5 mile walking trail around the lake right next to the Microtel. Silver Dollar Lake and Murray Lake Trail is one of our favorite hikes. It's about 30 minutes from the Microtel. For great mountain views and hopefully some fall colors check out Guanella Pass. It connects Georgetown and Grant and takes about an hour to drive one way.
Idaho Springs is a typical small mountain town that offers a nice downtown area with coffee shops, restaurants, and gift shops with a grocery store in close proximity. There are many popular hiking trails nearby including Saint Mary's Glacier.
