CLOTHES, PLEASE, FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE!!! Prepare for afternoons in the high 80's and nights in the low 40's. Very low humidity so it's not as bad as it sounds. We will be at high elevation and in the mountains. The afternoon sun is very intense so bring sunscreen and chapstick. Colorado has daily afternoon thunderstorms, so if going out prepare for possible rain and lighting.
DON'T JUMP and DON'T PUSH YOUR SPOUSE (this means you, Jim and Dodie)!!! Denver is at ~5300 ft. Most will not feel the effects of altitude at the airport. Within 45 minutes of leaving airport and driving West towards Glenwood Springs you will be entering the Rockies. You will be crossing some passes at over 12,000 ft. If you should decide to go up Mt. Evans you will be above 14,000ft. It's hard to say how altitude will effect you. The best thing for you to do is hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Slight headache, dizziness, and nausea is normal until you adapt. Some people start to feel the effects of altitude ~8000ft. Glenwood Springs is at 5700 ft.. The wedding ceremony is at an elevation of 9,580 ft. Watch alcohol, you will feel it harder and faster! Yay!
DO WHHAATT U WWWAAANNNTT!!! I'M NOT THE BOSS OF U!! Honestly we recommend you stay in Colorado as long as possible. There is so much to see and do. Lots of little places that are awesome that you won't find on a travel recommendation website. If you wish to stay longer and are looking for ideas let us know and we'd love to share all the things we've seen and experienced.
IF I HAVE TO TELL YOU HOW TO DRIVE, STAY HOME AND RIDE IN BUGGIES WITH THE AMISH! When driving on interstate 70 and most highways you should be fine driving like normal. If you choose to go up Mt. Evans or find yourself on steep switchback roads leading down mountains, GEAR DOWN! Use low gears and stay off the brakes as long as possible and use sporadically. Brakes overheating and failing can and does happen.
