We met at our work, Benton Hall Academy. Sarah's mom will say it was all because of a Mediterranean style grilled cheese sandwich, but I believe it was destiny or fate. Sarah was hired as a special education teacher for the 2017-18 school year. She was placed in a classroom that was next to Rick's 5th grade room! We did not expect to find the love of our life at work, but God works in mysterious ways. We started a friendship and then went on our first date (that wasn't a date) in November 2017. We were both nervous about dating someone at work in case we broke up, but as Rick said, "What if we never break up?" We decided to follow our hearts and go for it. It was the BEST decision we ever made!

We had planned to have a picnic dinner along the canal, one of our favorite places to take a walk. After dinner, we took a walk and sat by the canal. We walked back to pick up our things to go home when Rick told me that he had finished a poem he had been writing and asked if I wanted to read it. I read the poem and at the end, it said, "Will you be my love, my wife, for all of time?" As I read that line, I looked up and back at the poem at least twice before I processed what I had just read. When I looked up from the poem, Rick was down on one knee, asking me to marry him. I was so surprised but of course I said yes! We walked back to the house where our families were waiting to celebrate with us.
