Like true millennials, Paul and Sarah met on a dating app - proving once and for all that love really can be found between thumb scrolls. They discovered they both worked at Deloitte at the same time, bonding over shared experiences and debates about the best skyway lunch spots. From the very beginning, Paul showed his dedication by doing his homework - especially when it came to planning their first date. He thoughtfully chose a restaurant inspired by Sarah’s favorite food. Ironically, they met for brunch and cuisine did not matter. The next several months, Paul and Sarah made the most of free moments and squeezed in dates around Paul’s busy season. Together, they explored the Twin Cities - admiring snow sculptures, tackling an art museum scavenger hunt, trying new restaurants, and saying “yes” to just about any new experience. As fall rolled in, one important detail remained unresolved: they still hadn’t DTR’d (Define The Relationship). Meanwhile, Sarah was preparing to run the Twin Cities Marathon, with her family in town to cheer her on. She decided it was time for them to meet Paul over brunch. The next day, he upped the ante by making a sign and tracking Sarah as she ran (a sign they still have today!). After this weekend, Sarah began to realize something important: Paul wasn’t just someone she enjoyed spending time with - he was someone she wanted to experience life with. As the years went by, Paul and Sarah perfected the art of sharing their favorite things and collecting new memories along the way. Highlights include traveling far and wide and cooking side by side. From kayaking the Apostle Islands to wandering the Everglades, marveling at Antelope Canyon, listening to live music in Nashville, visiting Paul’s childhood homes in the Pacific Northwest, skiing in CO, exploring Tokyo, and countless family visits, they’ve loved introducing each other to where they came from and discovering new places together. And then there’s dogs. If you know Sarah, you know her lifelong love for wiener dogs. If you know Paul, you know he loves dogs of any shape or size. In March of 2024, they grew their pack to welcome their newest (and longest) addition: Vienna. Vienna’s spunky, spirited, and mischievous personality quickly stole the hearts of Paul & Sarah, and the (ongoing) quest for housebreaking the 8 lb black-and-tan miniature dachshund has provided countless opportunities to fine tune their teamwork. While Vienna’s small stature made her a great local travel companion, she couldn’t join Paul and Sarah on a December 2024 trip to Aruba. After braving multiple Minnesota winters without a tropical escape, they planned a getaway - one Paul had already set the stage for by quietly asking Sarah’s parents for their blessing. Paul wanted to “pop the question” early, so they could celebrate and enjoy the rest of the trip as an engaged couple. On morning #1, Paul (a known proponent of sunrises) suggested they wake up early to catch the sunrise. Despite the stellar view, the timing didn’t feel quite right. Ultimately, he shifted his sights to day 2. They spent the first half of the day exploring. Along the way, they visited a lesser traveled fisherman’s beach called Savaneta. It was there that Paul (a known proponent of sunsets) suggested they return in the evening to catch the sunset. Despite Paul’s worry of the growing cloud cover on December 16th, the moment proved magical that evening as Sarah said “yes” to Paul’s long-awaited question! Which brings us to why you’re here today. We didn’t get here on our own. From the people who cheered us on growing up, to friends who survived high school and college with us, to coworkers who see us more than our families some weeks, and the friends we happily spend our weekends with - you’ve all played a part in getting us to this moment.
