In the fall of 2015, Sarah was working at America's favorite family restaurant, Chili's Bar and Grill, when Matt joined the team. Though the two barely spoke at first, and Sarah was Matt's boss (ooh la la), they found a mutual attraction growing. One fateful Monday night, the two found themselves at "The Leaky Lifeboat" in Seaford after work and talked for hours getting to know one another. Throughout the night they connected over many a mutual interest, particularly exploring local dive bars (classy!) Neither wanted the night to end, and they made plans for a few days later to meet up for drinks at Mr. Beery's in Levittown. From that moment on, the two were inseparable, and the rest is history! To this day Sarah and Matt refer to the date of that first "Mr. Beery's" date as their anniversary - 4/27/16.
Early on in their relationship, Sarah brought Matt on a vacation to her family-owned beach house in Charlestown, Rhode Island. In the car on the way there, Sarah told Matt that this was her favorite place in the world, and that she couldn't wait to share it with him. From that moment on, he knew that when the time came to pop the question, it had to be there. Fast forward to September of 2020 - the two planned a week getaway to Rhode Island and were looking forward to spending some time away from home. Little did Sarah know, that packed in Matt's suitcase (hidden in a pair of fabulous Bob Ross socks) was something that would change both of their lives. On an evening walk on the beach, Matt got down on one knee and told Sarah that she was the most important thing in his life, and asked her to marry him. After running away screaming "OH MY GOD" over and over again, Sarah of course, said YES! The two shared a bottle of champagne to celebrate, and then called all their family and friends to share the wonderful news!
