Casual
Join us the night before the wedding for a casual get together with pizza and traditional Sicilian food and drinks. It is a short walk (with a big hill) from where most people are staying. Plan to walk, or hitch a ride by meeting at the Church (Via della Chiesa, 1) at 7:15pm. Originally, we had planned to have this party on rooftop of our family home, but some infrastructural issues (power, water, and some pesky pigeons) mean it is just easier to have it at one of our favorite outdoor restaurants in the village. www.ristorantecancaus.it
9:00 am - 11:30 am
Good walking shoes, a bottle of water, and sunscreen!
Meet Tom Harris (friend) in the piazza in front of the main church in Porticello (Via della Chiesa, 1) at 9am. He will guide the group on a fun 30 minute, uphill hike. Bring 4 euro for the entry fee. Solunto is an archeological site going back 2,500+ years. Phoenician, Greek, and Roman historical ruins and museum. You'll be back in time to shower and get ready for the wedding.

Sicilians love to stay up late. The working port of the village transforms into lively scene filled with bars and restaurants late at night. Families sit out and promenade along the waterfront until the early hours of the morning. Don't be surprised to see young children playing soccer in the piazzas late into the night.
11:00 am - 6:00 pm
Swimsuit, Towel, Sunscreen
Join us for an amazing afternoon in Cefalu, one of our favorite places! Meet in the piazza in front of the main church in Porticello (Via della Chiesa, 1) at 11am. Vans will take us to Cefalu. (About 1 hour from Porticello) Once there, you can enjoy the beach, walk the charming streets, and/or see the Arab-Norman cathedral. We'll travel back to Porticello via train. (Options to depart at 4:38pm or 7:54pm. About 5 euros.) Lonely Planet's description of Cefalu: Beautiful Cefalù offers a rare combination of tourist attractions: one of Sicliy's finest beaches side-by-side with one of its greatest Arab-Norman architectural masterpieces. The squares, streets and churches of this medieval town are so postcard-pretty that it's no wonder director Giuseppe Tornatore chose to set parts of his much-loved film Cinema Paradiso here.
