These words best describe who we are, both individually, and as a couple. Although we grew up worlds part, the Lord saw fit to lead us to one another in November of 2020. Sarah, a traveling nurse, accepted an assignment in the Sacramento area during the height of COVID. Me, a data analyst and former chef, was active in my church and growing in my faith during a season of unemployment. Both of us were looking for someone who was a true follower of Christ, had a love for the outdoors, and desired to live healthy and meaningful lives. Needless to say, the Lord answered our prayers! Just to give you an idea of just how well we clicked… On our first date, we started off at a local coffee shop and then we decided to drive an hour to Lake Tahoe to continue to get to know each other and ended up having dinner in Lake Tahoe that evening. So, we essentially had 3 dates in 1! Since that first date, we have grown in more ways than either of us could have imagined.
On June 25th (Sidenote: I thought he chose the date because it was 6 months from Christmas...which is my favorite day, but he didn't lol) Josh asked me to marry him and I said YES! Finding the right partner for life has taken me a while but that's because I knew I wanted to wait for God's best. One thing I know, when I have let God lead me and walked in faith and His wisdom, it has always gone well and our story is one of that. I often wondered who would be that special man. I sometimes questioned my standards and desires for a partner in life but the more I have learned about myself, the more I loved how I live and who I’m created to be in this world, the more certain I became that I would rather remain single and live the life I’m meant to live than “settle”. Joshua is a kind and servant hearted man. He is warm and loves people. Like I said, Christmas was exactly 6 months ago to the day, and it was a turning point for both of us. I was so thankful he came to meet my family (believe me I wondered “is this “too soon”?”) because he fit in immediately and made my Christmas incredible -which in years past had been very challenging and hard- I felt so supported and was so thankful he felt like part of the family right away. Since then he has shown me how much he cares for me. I love how we communicate together -willing to embrace the hard conversations and challenge each other while believing and speaking out the best in one another. We love to be outdoors and he is up for adventures. We love to laugh and I have never been so goofy with anyone, I’ve truly found my best friend. Most importantly, he is in love with Jesus and desires to walk in humility - becoming more like the ultimate example of Love. There are many more reasons as to why I said yes but I’m just going to leave it there. I wanted to share what made Joshua Neil Jones special enough for this choosy lady to say "yes, I want to do life with you!"
So here we are: engaged and soooo excited for the wedding of our dreams. We love that we have this time to continue to grow, continue to ask good questions (highly recommend the book we started while dating called "Now that You're Engaged"), continue to walk alongside each other in life and now it's even more fun because we get to look to the future and getting to do life as one. Our adventure has only just begun and we ask prayers for more and more wisdom, kindness, grace, joy and love as we walk towards the best day ever!! We cannot wait to spend time with you all before then and especially for our wedding celebration. Here's to the future: it's looking bright <3
