I always remembered seeing her at parties, usually hers. The more and more we hung out and talked to each other I knew she was going to be a great friend. As years passed and our friendship grew and changed she finally took up the courage and told me how she really felt. From that moment we were together and hardly ever apart. Showing your true self and feelings aren’t easy to do but that just proved to me that she was as strong as I thought. Now our home, dogs and love combined have made us twice as strong and even more in love. I say she’s my rock but really she’s my love. And together we can do anything.
I will always remember the first time I ever saw him. I was 16 and he was a friend of my best friends big brother. “That one with the mic is Jaeme. He’s soooo cute!” My friend whispered and in that moment dibs had been called. Abiding by Girl Code I crossed Jaeme off the list of potentials in my mind. A few years passed and he started showing up at the same parties as me. Over the next 6 years we grew to be very close friends. He was always there when I needed him and we just always had each other’s backs no matter what. Then in 2015 I went to my first cabin trip with our big group of friends. I’d heard stories about the magic that happens at the cabin but had no idea this year Jaeme and I would fall under its spell. One kiss started 2 years of we are, we aren’t, we might be, no definitely not. Despite how hard I tried not to, I was falling in love with one of my best friends. To be true to myself, I had to tell him. After what felt like the longest week of my life he told me what I had been hoping for… he wanted to give us a real chance. 4 years later we’ve got 2 dogs, one house and an immeasurable love. A love that’s been growing for 12 years… long before we even knew it was there. And even so, 12 years is nothing compared to the lifetime ahead of us.
