Travel Note
There are a few options when traveling from Rome to Sorrento. First, take the fast train (book in advance - italotreno.com or trenitalia.com) from Rome to Naples. These trains are very comfortable! 1. Take the metro in Naples to the ferry port and then the ferry from Naples to Sorrento (scenic route) 2. Take the Campania Express train from Naples to Sorrento. 3. There are also buses from the train station and the airport. 4. We advise against taking the Circumvesuviana train from Naples. Although it is the cheapest option, it can get crowded and hot and you might be standing for over an hour. 5. Taking a taxi is the most expensive, but most convenient option.
Travel Note
We strongly encourage you to book your flights and accommodations as soon as possible, as prices are expected to rise. Availability for Airbnbs and hotels in the Sorrento area during July is limited, so securing your stay now is essential. When booking trains (for example, from Rome to Naples), only the Trenitalia or Italo websites to avoid hidden fees. Please see the note above about traveling from Rome to Sorrento. Local train tickets (from Naples to Sorrento) can be purchased on the day of travel, and tickets for buses and ferries can also be bought on the same day or the day before. If you plan to visit popular attractions (such as The Vatican, the Colosseum, Amalfi Boat Tours, Pompeii, etc.), we highly suggest booking in advance. The summer season can be crowded, and tours tend to sell out quickly. If you have any questions or need help with booking tours, feel free to reach out—we're happy to help!

The nearest airport to Sorrento is Naples. You can fly directly into Naples or into Rome and take a train to Naples, then Sorrento. There are also ferries, buses, and taxis that can bring you from Naples to Sorrento. Flights from JFK are typically the most affordable, and flying into Rome is often cheaper than Naples. This is where we will be staying for the wedding week (July 20-26). Please see other recommendations below to choose an option that is best for your plans & budget.
Travel Note
Sorrento’s central location makes it an ideal base for exploring the Amalfi Coast, offering easy access to key sites while providing a quieter, less crowded atmosphere and stunning views. For the best experience, we recommend staying near Corso Italia and Piazza Tasso (the main square), where you'll be within walking distance of transport links and restaurants. While staying on the outskirts can offer more peace, keep in mind it may involve a taxi or shuttle to get down from the hills and reach the town center. 4* Hotel Recommendations Hotel Continental - (this is where we will be staying) Hotel Plaza Imperial Hotel Tramontano Grand Hotel de la Ville 3* Hotel Recommendations Hotel Sorrento City Hotel Regina Hotel la Tonnarella (beachfront but 20 minutes walk from the center of town) There are also affordable Air BNB options that we are linking to this page.

This is where we will be having our wedding ceremony and dinner. It is about 20 minutes outside of Sorrento. We would recommend to stay in the town of Sorrento for better access to transportation and activities. Relais Blu offers free transportation to and from the wedding venue from downtown Sorrento. Please contact Sarah directly if you are interested in booking a room at Relais Blu the night of the wedding.
Travel Note
Sorrento is a charming town located on the Sorrentine Peninsula in southern Italy, overlooking the Bay of Naples. Known for its stunning views, cobblestone streets, and vibrant citrus groves, it offers a mix of natural beauty, cultural history, and Italian coastal charm. As a gateway to the Amalfi Coast, it’s an excellent base for travelers exploring the region. If you are unfamiliar with the Amalfi Coast, it is multiple towns situated along the Southern coast of Italy. It features colorful villages like Positano, Amalfi, and Ravello, each with unique architecture, local cuisine, and breathtaking landscapes. The area is famous for its lemons, picturesque beaches, and winding roads that offer incredible vistas. There is only one road that connects the towns and the towns are built into the mountainside, so it can be difficult to get around. You can travel between the towns on the Amalfi Coast by car, boat, or bus. Apparently the most comfortable and scenic way to see the towns is by boat/ferry. I’ve been told by many people that renting a car is a horrible idea. Please see the “Things to Do” section for more information about Amalfi Coast towns. Once you are in one of the towns, there is a lot of walking involved to get from place to place, often times up lots of hills and stairs. Wear comfortable shoes!
