After a couple of dates, when we made things "Facebook official" we noticed that we had a few friends in common...turns out, we both worked at the same OfficeMax store at the same time, ten years prior! But Dan worked early mornings and Sarah worked most evenings, so our paths never crossed. We both joined OkCupid and started chatting but ultimately didn't meet for a date when we first matched. When Sarah re-joined the app after a breakup, Dan found her again and this time, they went out for dinner. And the rest, as they say, is history!
After three years together, Dan pulled together all his resources to propose: he called Sarah's parents and brother to ask for their blessing and assistance - Fred (Sarah's father) handmade a wooden box with a 3D printed aperture that opened at the flick of a switch to hold the ring. Dan then asked Sarah's friend Jaime for help in selecting the ring - an aquamarine stone in a rose gold setting. After the unbelievable year that was 2020, Dan told a few friends that he wanted to propose to Sarah during a small gathering to ring in the new year. They gathered at Sarah's parent's house (where the wedding will be!) to play games and eat dinner as the minutes ticked towards midnight. With one minute to go, Dan started into a speech. Sarah had an idea where this was going - especially since everyone in the room fell silent and there were a couple of cellphones out to record the moment! It was important for Dan to time his speech perfectly so that the last thing he did in 2020 was ask Sarah to marry him, and the first thing she did in 2021 was say yes! The confetti from the poppers that were set off is still being found in the Busse family living room...
