We met at the tender age of 13 in our middle school band hall after Sarah's family moved to Texas. Sarah thought Bryce was cute, Bryce just thought it was weird there was a girl percussionist 😏. We became friends and in the summer of 2006, in true middle school fashion, a mutual friend told Sarah "I think Bryce likes you," and Sarah said "tell him I like him too." We became a couple on July 26th, 2006 and have been together ever since - through the awkward teenage years, long-distance in college, and making a life together in DC ❤
We had known for many years we would get married, but wanted to do it at the time that was right for us. Since we mutually decided when to get engaged, I (Sarah) decided I might as well pick my own engagement ring (if I'm going to wear it forever, I might as well get what I want, right?! 😄). However, this meant Bryce had quite the challenge if he wanted to surprise me with a proposal. I knew he wouldn't propose until he had talked with my family in person to get their blessing, so we planned for them to come visit and I knew Bryce wouldn't be proposing until after that weekend. But Bryce was a step ahead and drove 4 hours one day to meet my family and have that conversation without me knowing. He got a friend to invite me to the proposal location (hi Ronit! 👋) and was waiting there for me. You know I was truly not expecting it based on my outfit and messy hair (see photo page). We both cried and I nearly knocked him over by jumping on him after he put the ring on my finger. After two and a half years of being engaged and delaying our date because of the pandemic, we are SO excited to finally get married!!
