The Indian Wedding...

Indian weddings are traditionally multi-day affairs filled with many events, music, food, bright colors creating a hopefully unique experience. The Hindu wedding ceremony itself takes place in accordance with traditions described in the Vedas, the Hindu scriptures. The ceremony is traditionally comprised of a series of steps that will be carried out by Sarah and Avinash, as well as their families. The wedding is performed by priests who recite mantras in the Sanskrit language during each step of the ceremony. The ceremony takes place on a Kalyaana Mandapam, the wedding pavilion.
Question

When should I plan to arrive?

Answer

We encourage all out of town guests to arrive midday Friday to allow time to settle in and enjoy the weekend.

Question

What should I wear?

Answer

Feel free to dress in what is most comfortable for you - Semi-Formal or Indian attire is perfect for the wedding ceremony. If you are interested in wearing Indian attire we recommend mirraw.com or utsavfashion.com. For ladies, lehengas and sarees are appropriate. For men, sherwanis are ideal.

Question

Should I bring a gift?

Answer

Sarah and I are thrilled to have you with us on our special day. If you are feeling generous please see our wedding registry for items we'd love to have. We are traveling in from Seattle, so please no boxed gifts for ease of logistics.

For all the days along the way
