FAQs

Question

When do I need to RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP no later than February 28, 2026.

Question

Do I have a plus one?

Answer

Invitations to our wedding are by name only, please check your RSVP for the names of your guests.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

Requested ceremony and reception attire is cocktail. We would love to see suits, sport coats with slacks, cocktail dresses, long evening gowns, and comparable attire at our wedding! Please do not dress casually, we want to see all of our friends and family looking spiffy! We're planning to have the ceremony on grass and our dancefloor is brick, so we recommend against more pointed heels (or at least, bring flats or wedges for dancing!) For the Saturday night activities, feel free to dress casually.

Question

What will the weather be like?

Answer

Northern Virginia is usually around mid-60s in late March, but it's a bit unpredictable. We plan to have the ceremony and cocktail hour outside and the reception inside, so we recommend attire that will keep you comfortable outside while the sun is up, but we'll be inside before it gets dark! If it rains, the ceremony will also be held inside, and cocktail hour will be covered.

Question

Do you have a room block?

Answer

We have two! They are at the hotels listed in our "Travel" page, which are also the only hotels we plan to arrange a shuttle to and from the wedding. We recommend reserving a room as soon as possible, either through our room block or separately because: 1) both hotels allow free cancelation until very close to the wedding and 2) we start with a relatively limited room block that we can extend as it fills, so we cannot guarantee that rooms will be available closer to the date. Alex and I will be at the hotel Friday (3/27) through Monday (3/30).

Question

How should I get to and from the wedding?

Answer

We have arranged three school buses to shuttle guests to and from the venue, which are a great option for guests who plan to drink. They will pick up and drop off at the parking lot that the two recommended hotels share. Right now, we're planning for all three school buses to arrive at the hotels at 1600, depart from the hotels around 1615, and arrive at the venue no later than 1645. Then, after the reception, the three buses will be there to pick up guests at 2300, departing no later than 2315, and arriving back at the room block hotels (and the after party!) around 2345. There will be plenty of room for all of our guests to take the buses (whether or not you noted that you planned to do so in your RSVP)! If you're driving, there is plenty of free parking at the venue. It is about a 25min drive (conservatively) between the hotels and the venue. You are allowed to leave your car at the venue overnight, but please note that the venue's gate does not open until 11am on Monday, so if you leave your car overnight you will not be able to get it until then! There should be Ubers available prior to the ceremony given the hotels' proximity to Dulles Airport. However, the venue has advised us that it will be difficult to get an Uber from the venue to anywhere else following the reception. If you are local and plan to head home after the reception, we suggest taking the shuttle to the hotel and then attempting to Uber from there.

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

The ceremony will begin promptly at 5pm. Our shuttle will get you there with enough time to find the ceremony and your seat. If you're driving, please arrive no later than 4:40 to allow time for parking and finding your seat. If you arrive even earlier, feel free to stop by the winery-- it's about a 5 minute walk to our event space from there.

Question

What type of food will you be serving throughout the wedding?

Answer

The menu is New America (in Alex's words, anyways). During cocktail hour, there will be passed and stationary appetizers. Dinner is buffet style with both a beef and chicken option (you don't have to pick between the two); vegetarians will be given a separate plated dinner. If you have any dietary restrictions please let us know in your RSVP.

Question

Can I take pictures?

Answer

We'll only want our photographer, Asa, capturing the ceremony, so please, no photos! Feel free to take photos at the cocktail hour and reception.

Question

Open bar?

Answer

There will be an open bar throughout cocktail hour and the reception, providing cocktails, beer, and wine from the winery. For the after party at Aloft, drinks from the hotel lobby bar will not be covered.

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Please check your RSVP to see which members of your family are invited! While we love everyone's kids, we are limited by space constraints and also want everyone to be able to have a good time!

Question

Are the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception locations wheelchair accessible?

Answer

Yes, though please make sure to include any accessibility needs in the provided box as part of your RSVP.
