Where we had our first date! Sarah's favorite treat is the chocolate covered peanutbutter fudge patty. Alex enjoys coffee, coffee, and more coffee.
Fantastic icecream and gelato, including non-dairy options. But what we love the most is their homemade waffel cones, with vanilla and cinnamon it reminds of snickerdoodles! They even have make-your-own cookie icecream sandwiches and retro soda selection for floats.
This is my favorite "fou-fou" coffee of choice. I like the sugar-free versions of the White Rabbit (white mocha with toasted marshmellow), Salted Carmel Mocha (but with the whip, goo, and sprinkels), or the Mexican Mocha. Not feeling coffee? Try their English Tea Latte, so tasty! Most locations are just drive-thrus and this is just the one closest to us, so check them out if you are in the Arcata or Eureka see if one is nearby to try!
Looking for a good pastry for breakfast? Look no further! Sarah loves anything with their frangipane, a sweet dense almond cake. Their French King's cake, Pear-Almond or Raspberry tarts. And if you like strong iced coffee, they offer coffee ice cubes with their iced coffee. Alex loves their savory scones. Ask them to heat it up for you, you won't regret it! This is my favorite location of theirs, but they even have a full resturant in Eureka on Harrison.
Great local breakfast! Come hungry though, the serving sizes are generous.
Looking to hurl axes, shovels, daggers, and tomahawks at wooden wall targets? This is a great activity we all love. If you are a bit shy, the workers there will give you a lesson or two to help out.
Want to wander the charming local shops and see local art vendors? Maybe grab dinner, a drink, dessert? This would be the time! Want some atmospher with that drink? Try Patsy Kline's or the nextdoor resturant in the Historic Eagle House. Try a fancy cocktail at the Speakeasy in Opera Alley by the mural of Nina Kristopherson performing as Lady Day. The award-winning chocolate factory, Dick Taylor's is near by for a flavorful, mostly darker chocolate bar, with small batch flavored milk and white chocolates too. Look by the register too, they have some decatant bon-bons, pastries, and sipping chocolate. They even have their own fudgecicles! Best random gift-shop, hands down? Many Hand's Gallery, right on the corner acroos from the Gazebo. Find that unusual gift, nautical trinket, jewlery, art work from around the world. Looking for something more retro or kitchy? Right around the corner is Seymore's. Even if not in the market, it's fun to take a look.
Want to grab a coffee and maybe grab some fresh strawberries from Fortuna. Maybe grab some foccia from Cafe Brio, and fresh mozerlla from the Coop for a snack later. Maybe a cider and a slice of pie at BitterSweet, with local Humboldt Cider Co avalible and the best local pie from Slice of Humboldt Pie. Grab a movie up the street at the Minor, one of the logest running theaters in the USA. Or grab the family movie Sunday Nights at the Arcata Theatre Lounge.
If you head up north to spend some time in Trinidad and need lunch, check this place out. Their savery mashpotatoe cone is a signature there.
Looking for a treat breakfast, lunch, dinner or even a midnight snack? Try our local trucker diner and leave room for one of their many falvors of milkshakes, some so thick you have to eat them with a spoon.
Sequoia Park is in the middle of the city of Eureka, but it is wonderful glimpse into a Redwood Forest. Right next door is our modest city zoo that now boasts a skywalk that reaches over into the redwoods of the park. It is a great perspective to enjoy these ancient giants.
