Our love story beings the old fashioned way on Match.com….. Timing in life rarely works out perfectly but in our story timing was what brought us together. Sarah started the first day of 2017 with a message to Aaron on match after stumbling upon his profile. She was struck with both his dimples and his straightforward approach to what he was looking for. Aaron didn’t waste much time in getting back but later admitted to giving her the email he used to filter out the crazies! She passed thankfully and within a few days they were spending hours on the phone with each other. Between laughing and stories of their lives they made a date and Aaron sweetly offered to come to the foreign land of West Seattle from Queen Anne. They met at New Luck Toy, which would become a special place in so many aspects of their lives. Four days after sending her message Sarah nervously walked around the corner to see the man she knew immediately would be her husband someday. Aaron had already arrived and was waiting outside the doors incredibly excited and anxious. She came around the corner and he was stunned. The saw each other, smiled, and the nervousness and anxiety disappeared. Smiling and more than a little excited they heading inside for what would turnout to be one of the most amazing dates and important conversations of their lives. This wasn’t a moment of unease or awkwardness. They ate and talked like their souls had known each other forever. The timing was perfect Aaron immediately asked if he could see her again the next night and after two extraordinary nights both of them knew had finally found their person.
For months Thursday night was their date night which turned into every night being date night. For the next year they explored Seattle together as if seeing it for the first time. It became the backdrop for the moments they would cherish forever. Aaron asking Sarah if she would be his girl (which she replied forever), the first I love you, first time cooking for each other. Sarah loving that he always smelled like food when he showed up for dates hiding flowers behind his back. Aaron meeting Kodah and not knowing a dog could shed that much. Meeting friends, comforting each other during tragedy and 9 months after their first date deciding sharing a home together was the only way they wanted to live. They began sharing with each other their passions and hobbies. Now Sarah loves professional wrestling and Aaron loves Comicon! They had not only found the person they wanted to marry but their best friend, the piece that completed their hearts.
In the spring of 2018 Aaron started making plans to ask Sarah to marry him. He had the ring and the plan. The day before he had planned to ask her to marry him she had jokingly said “just make sure when you ask me to marry you my nails are done” which he giggled about. Aaron decided on July 5th because not only was it their year and a half anniversary but at 12:01am the fireworks on the 4th would always be for them. He asked her to dinner at New Luck toy for their anniversary. A few days prior to the date he crafted 4 oversized Chinese take out boxes that he would hide the ring in. They were put together like a nesting egg, one inside of the other. His plan was to have one of the bartenders give him an empty to go box when they left saying it was a special anniversary treat. When he got home he could switch it with the boxes he had made with the ring in it. After a great date at New Luck Toy and stopping to get champagne (No Sarah still had clue) They arrived home and Aaron made the switch. “Sarah come open up this dessert and see what they gave us.” She started opening the first box which revealed another smaller box, she opened that one which revealed another smaller box, she opened that one and it too revealed another smaller box and started to giggle in confusion. She opened two more boxes until finally she finally found a ring box, she starred at it and just said “babe!...” With her hand over her mouth and being in complete shock Aaron pulled the ring box out of the final take box, got down on one knee and said “Sarah Harper will you marry me?” and she said “Yes!”.
