The reason that Estes Park is famous. You will need to purchase a pass in advance of entering the park. Passes go quick for this time of year. 60% of passes for a given day will go on sale July 1. 40% will be released first-come, first-served on Recreation.gov at 5 p.m. on the night before a desired arrival date.

The Stanley Hotel was the inspiration of the novel, The Shinning, by Stephen King and also used as the filming location for the hotel in Dumb and Dumber. Tours of the hotel are available for $25 during the day and $30 at night, but you can walk in and around the hotel for free! If you're a whiskey lover, check out The Vault-Whiskey History & Tasting. Reservations are required. The 217 Wine Bar is also a great place for a drink!
Lake Estes Marina offers kayak, paddle board, and pontoon boat rentals if you want to get out on the water. There is also a small, sandy "beach" next to the Marina.
