Flight
The best airport to fly into to go straight to Positano is Naples. The next closest airport is Rome, which sometimes has cheaper rates and would be worth flying into if you want to explore another part of Italy before the wedding festivities begin! If you do fly into Rome, you could go on to Naples by train. Once you arrive in Naples you can arrange for car transportation to the Amalfi Coast to take you directly to your hotel. This service should be booked in advance and it will take 75-90 minutes to get to Positano. We have recommendations for shuttle services.
Train
If you fly into Rome (FCO) and want to make your way towards Naples immediately, there is a non-stop “Leonardo Express” train that goes from the airport to the main train station, Roma Termini, in Roma's city center. You can buy tickets at the airport train station right before you hop on the train. I recommend this option instead of buying online in advance to protect against any hiccups from flight delays. The trains depart frequently so you won't have a hard time getting a ticket. Once you're at Roma Termini, trains run frequently to the Naples train station, Napoli Centrale. The 'Frecciarossa' line is the fast train which takes only 70 minutes. I recommend getting this ticket in advance because there are some options that take much longer. You can arrange for car transportation from Naples to Positano that will take you directly to your hotel. We recommend booking this service in advance. We have recommendations for shuttle services.
Rental Car
Positano is about 75-90 minutes from Naples. The easiest way to get to Positano from Naples is by private shuttle (taxis or vans). We not recommend renting a car. The roads are very difficult to navigate, and it is difficult to park. Some suggested transfer companies: Benvenuto Limos, Jack the Driver, or Positano Drivers. Expect the cost of a Mercedes-Benz sprinter van to cost 150-200 euro and accommodate up to 8 people. Smaller cars are a bit cheaper, approximately 90 euro for 3 people. It's advantageous to coordinate with other guests if possible. (There is a bus option that is significantly cheaper, about 12 euro, but it i's a trek! Let us know if you are interested in this option, and I'll help you plan.) Hiring a taxi/van directly from Rome airport to Positano takes about 3 hours. Again, it's advantageous coordinate with other guests if possible.
