We are excited that vaccines and local guidelines have made a small in-person wedding possible. We are looking forward to celebrating with other loved ones virtually and eventually.
Before we ever met, we had a very important person in common; Erun's cousin and Sara's close friend, Malithi. Mali waited until the last minute to introduce us, the day before she moved out of the country. At her going away party (at Sara's favorite place on earth, Pier's Park), we instantly bonded over dominating at Kan Jam, eating pizza, and admiring the Boston skyline as the sun set. We kept the party going, not wanting to say goodbye to Mali and wanting more time together. We kept hanging out with fewer and fewer friends, until the night ended with four of us having a midnight beach picnic.
You are probably wondering how Erun managed to surprise Sara when they were both dressed up, at a scenic outdoor location, with witnesses to be photographers during a pandemic. Erun knew that the only way to surprise Sara was to make her think she was surprising him. It was Erun's birthday, and his siblings Janaque and Sanouri convinced Sara that she was in on planning a scavenger hunt for him. In actuality, Erun secretly planned the scavenger hunt vicariously through Sara. Featuring such activities as Kan Jam (what they played when they first met), ring toss, recreating pictures from their past, drawing hearts with sparklers, and solving a cypher with "marry me" hidden in it. The ring was at the end, wrapped in larger and larger boxes that Sara unknowingly helped wrap. Erun thoughtfully had Sara's family there over Zoom, so they were surrounded by loved ones.
