We "met" on the dating app Bumble while living in Charlotte, NC. While it wasn't quite "love at first swipe," we discovered that Sara was about to go see the same Beatles show at the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra that Dwaine had seen two nights before. In addition to a love of music, movies, and breweries, we also bonded over how silly the generic "what do you do for fun" answers are. Our first date was on March 21, 2017 at Wooden Robot Brewery. Dwaine was prepared to have "one drink and go" but the laugher was endless and the chemistry was immediate, so "one drink" turned into many hours and another bar before the night was done. Ask Sara to tell you her favorite story from our first date.

In an effort to “get away” during the pandemic, Dwaine took Sara on a weekend staycation at the Line Hotel in downtown Washington, D.C. After faking her out by jokingly reaching into his pocket to pull out his phone, Dwaine surprised Sara with a custom teal sapphire, made by her friend celebrity jeweler, Zenobia Morrow.

We're so excited to have you join us for our secret garden party celebration! Having our wedding date on the 21st is in homage to our first date, and you'll see small nods to the things we love through the weekend: travel, cooking, cocktails, and a little magic.
