Ghazal is Sara's sister-in-law. Ghazal and John were two of the first people in Sara's inner circle to meet Dan, only a few weeks after they started dating, when the four of them went on a Northern California road trip together.

Steve and Dan met in 2013 in Davis, CA when they both moved into the same house. They remained roommates for the following 3 years and enjoyed the perks and challenges of living at the ranch.

Originally a coworker of Sara's in Davis, CA, Emily quickly became a friend for life as they navigated the challenges and adventures of their late 20s and early 30s. They can also meal-plan for 16 people for a weekend camping trip like it's nuthin'.

Tim was the instructor for Dan's first biology lab course at U. of Alaska, Anchorage in 2008 and helped Dan get his first job with Fish & Wildlife. Tim was Dan and Sara's housemate and landlord for their first year in Anchorage.

Sara and Christie met as suite-mates in the dorms their first year at UVA in 2003 and lived together throughout college. They thrive on philosophical conversations, value sustainable living practices, and LOVE craft beer.

Dan and C.J. met in 2005 while warming the bench for the high school football team in Sebastopol, CA. During those formative years after high school, C.J. and Dan were inseparable and spent many mornings fishing for bass together.

Sara and Sara have been friends since they both started graduate school in Atlanta, GA in 2007. They adopted puppies within 6 months of each other and spent countless hours together on walks and at the dog park, talking about life, love, science, and what cool thing in Atlanta they should go to together next.

Donny and Dan met in 1998 when Dan moved to Encinitas, CA in 5th grade. As neighbors and best friends, they spent their young adolescence getting into trouble and finding good fishing holes.
