One of the better restaurants in historic downtown Woodland and one of the only fine dining establishments. Great place for a nice dinner. Reservations recommended. Excellent lunch menu as well (only served M-F). Scaled up take on classic American "comfort" food. Great cocktails and wine options, too. Highly recommended!
Reservations are recommended for this restaurant! Serving seasonal and farm-to-table food, this is one of the only nicer restaurants in downtown Woodland. Situated in a beautiful old building one block from Main Street. Lunch and dinner service, 7 days a week. Reservations recommended.
This a great, casual restaurant with a large dining room, a menu with lots of variety, and a full bar. Good for families and large groups. Closed on Sunday.
A large, casual bar with open seating and a shady patio area outside in the back. Lunch and dinner service, 7 days a week. Attached to Kitchen 428 in a beautiful historic building one block south of Main Street. Can order from the full Kitchen 428 menu.
This neat Irish Pub in historic Woodland took over the location of the old, local bank. Nice atmosphere, good food at decent prices, great drink menu (local craft beers, full bar, and an extensive whiskey selection), separate whiskey tasting room in the old bank vault, and dart boards! Open for lunch and dinner every day except Mondays. Often has live music on the weekends, too.
Standard Mexican food and margaritas on Main St. in historic, downtown Woodland.
Excellent and relatively new local craft brewery, just off main street in downtown Woodland in Dead Cat Alley. Plenty of seating and patio options.
If you drove or rented a car, Berryessa Brewing Co. is worth the short drive out of town. It's huge patio is fully covered with a sunshade, and they have live music and food trucks regularly. A great way to spend an hour or two, especially after a visit to Lake Berryessa or a hike on the Stebbins Canyon Trail.
A favorite early morning hike of the groom and groomsman Steve Frese, the Stebbins Cold Canyon Loop Trail is a medium difficulty, 5.1 mile loop with great views. Our favorite dive bar in the area by far, Plainfield Station primarily serves the surrounding farming community, but it's large, grassy back patio area and amazing burgers & fries have won over every local who came looking for a cold beer on a hot day. Check it out for a delicious meal in a *very* casual setting, and be sure to wander outside and all the way back to the picnic tables. There's a great selection of California craft beer on draft, and they also have a pool table! Family friendly and great at sunset.
If you like, you can visit Davis, CA, where we met, lived, worked, and got engaged! It's only about 10 minutes directly south of Woodland, but beware: our wedding day is the same day as Picnic Day, which is a wonderful "open house" for all departments at UC-Davis, but it also tends to be treated as a day-drinking free-for-all by the undergrads. It can be neat to walk around campus and see all that UCD has to offer, but parking will be hard, restaurants will be packed, and students will be intoxicated. If you have the time and a car to visit Davis, it would be better on Friday evening or Sunday (though getting a table for brunch will be challenging the morning after Picnic Day).
Check out the unique Monticello Dam and Morning Glory Spillway (aka "Glory Hole"), where Lake Berryessa flows into Putah Creek. Or drive a bit further around the lake to access beaches, trails, and other viewpoints. When they first started dating, Sara invited Dan on a surprise afternoon adventure out of town for what would have been their 4th date. She knew he liked fishing and salmon, and she wanted to show him this super unique, rather unknown, outdoor, riverside restaurant/dive bar called StingRayz, where many local fisherman go after a long day on the water. But Dan already had plans to go fishing that Saturday and couldn't accept Sara's invite to a "secret" location. However, they realized that Dan was planning to go fishing at the exact spot on the river where StringRayz restaurant overlooks, and he already knew about the restaurant but had never been there. It was a hilarious coincidence that lead to many afternoons together and with their friends, either "fishing the line" on the Sacramento River in front of Stingrayz or enjoying a beer, a burger, and the hilariously unique decor there. Worth a visit!
We've actually never been here, but it looks super cool, especially if you're into engineering, farming, and large-scale production, or just want a taste of the history of this area.
