Charlotte, North Carolina

How we met (bride's POV)

Our story began during a visit to Charlotte, North Carolina, when I was staying with my best friend—long before I ever imagined calling the city home. At the time, I was in medical school preparing for my second board exam, Step 2, and I had a very strict study schedule. I was fully committed to my daily plan and didn’t allow myself to join any outings until my work was complete. One evening, while my friends headed out to an arcade, I remained behind to finish my studies. Later that night, the group returned to the apartment, joined by a few friends—including Josh. I stepped out of the bedroom simply to say hello, with no expectation that anything significant would come of it. Instead, we found ourselves engaged in an easy, unhurried conversation—about life, faith, school, friendships, and everything in between. Afterward, I returned to my studies, unaware that something meaningful had already begun. What I didn’t know then was that Josh and one of his friends exchanged a knowing glance when I entered the room—recognizing that I was exactly his type. Little did they realize, he was mine as well. A year later, God’s hand became even clearer. I was blessed to be accepted into my top-choice residency program—located in Charlotte. Shortly after receiving the news, I moved to North Carolina and reconnected with the same group of friends, including Josh. This time, the timing was right. He gave me a ride home, asked for my number, and invited me on our first date—pedicures, dinner at Leroy Fox, and dessert at Jeni’s Ice Cream. From that moment on, we were inseparable. What we cherish most about one another is the depth of our shared faith. Once we discovered that foundation, everything felt peaceful and assured. We thank God daily for weaving our lives together so naturally and intentionally. What felt like a quiet, ordinary moment—studying at home—became the beginning of a love story we now know was always meant to be.
