Our Story

“They say when you meet the love of your life, time stops, and that's true. What they don't tell you is that when it starts again, it moves extra fast to catch up.”

We met one night out in New York City through the covert coordination of Katie, our mutual friend, in April 2018. Conversing at Syndicated, dancing under a disco ball at Rose Lounge, and feeling a magnetic pull that was impossible to resist while watching the sunrise at 53 Morgan. Sunrise turned to dates trying Brooklyn's best pizza, to laughing at Upright Citizens Brigade shows, to quietly sharing the train back up to Harlem on Victoria's last night. The magical week was over, and she was flying home to San Francisco. And that was the beginning of everything. From there life moved fast! For months, Sanford flew to San Francisco, Victoria flew to New York City, and there were frequent FaceTime calls in between. Then decision time came, and Sanford was moving to California! One 4000 miles, 14 States road trip through the US later and Sanford was a resident of San Francisco. The next year moved quickly: new jobs, uniting friends, driving through Europe, and sharing a studio apartment provided ample opportunities for us to find ourselves as Sanford enjoyed his first year in the city and Victoria wrapped up her last year of 10 in San Francisco. The adventure was still on the horizon! Through hefty coordination, we found jobs in Santa Barbara, CA. A dream come true! Besides its glorious lifestyle, what was our impetus for finding jobs in Santa Barbara? The end goal was to experience an exciting remote work/ travel abroad in South East Asia through a community program called Remote Year. After negotiating with our employers during hiring, they agreed to let us work abroad for four months if! we moved to Santa Barbara and worked in the office when we returned. Done and done. Our time living in Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, and Bali changed our lives. We are so fortunate to share these memories. We can relive together the best bowl of udon after the snowfall hike in Kyoto, the motorbike rides of Hanoi, nights walking home under the stars in Chiang Mai, and all the wild conversations, nights out, and friends we made along the way. If you've gotten this far, you might be thinking, what's the timing here? We left in November 2019. Then we heard about the COVID virus while in Thailand in December 2019, and for the next few months, it was on our tail throughout South East Asia. When things took a turn for the worse in the U.S., we decided it was time to come back home in mid-March 2020. Turns out, coming home wasn't so bad. We've built a beautiful life in Santa Barbara with the help of our friends and family. We have the world's best dog, a home we love, and are closer to our families (in all the ways). We have good friends, trivia nights, and we explore the beaches and trails on weekends. Most importantly, we share the wild ride together. Doesn't get much better than that. In August 2022, during a 5-week road trip through Italy (we love a road trip), we got engaged in Occimiano. Gramie's quiet and small ancestral town. It was sentimental and dreamy celebrating our engagement all over Italy. And now, thrillingly, we wrap up this first massive phase of our life together in Mexico with you all for our wedding. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting us in our love and life!
