We love Union Station! While it still serves as a light rail train station (this is where the road ends if you come in from the airport), the inside has been beautifully remodeled and has multiple shops and eateries. Terminal bar inside is great and if you can stand waiting for 30 minutes, you won't be disappointed with Snooze for breakfast one morning!
At 6,450 ft above sea level, Red Rocks Park is a unique transitional zone where the Great Plains meet the Rocky Mountains. The beautiful red rocks are unique to Colorado and this is known as one of the best outdoor amphitheaters in the country. There are also plenty of short walks and hikes around the park if you want to get out and explore!
If you're looking for some food, Torchy's Tacos is one of our favorites. They have great Tex-Mex tacos and drinks, and you will not regret ordering a bowl of queso while you wait for your tacos.
Voodoo Doughnut shop is from Portland, OR where Esther spent at least a year travelling back and forth over the last few years. They are known for their unusual doughnuts, eclectic decor and pink boxes with their company logo and the illustration of voodoo priests. They have some crazy doughnuts, and some are even vegan too! Check them out if you're looking for a sweet treat. Also, just as a warning, they only accept cash!
This is one of our favorite happy hour and dinner spots in town! We went here for our first Valentine's Day together, and have been going since. It's a great tapas bar with tons of food and drink options for everyone.
Larmier Square is one of the best spots downtown. There are plenty of boutiques to shop at and enjoy during the day, and some of the best (and our favorite) restaurants if you need a bite to eat. If you stop by at night, the street is lit up with canopy lights above!
Pike's Peak is a bit further south of Denver, but has some great views. It is the tallest mountain in the US that you can drive to the peak of (at 14,115 ft above sea level), and the view from there was the inspiration behind the song "America the Beautiful"
This is another spot if you venture down South of Denver and into Colorado Springs. Garden of the Gods is a registered National Natural Landmark with views of 300 ft towering sandstone formations, it is uniquely Colorado and offers fantastic views.
