Although they had several classes with one another throughout all four years of high school, Sandy and Danny didn’t start talking to each other until their sophomore year in Algebra 2. Their friendship started after Sandy asked for Danny’s help in explaining a concept she couldn’t grasp. They learned that they didn’t live too far away from one another. Sandy’s house was on the way home for Danny and so they started walking home together. Danny would be such a gentleman and hold Sandy’s books and/or volleyball duffle bag during their walks home. It wasn’t until their senior year that Sandy and Danny grew closer. They were placed into the same AP Calculus study group that often met outside of class to study together. Their AP teacher decided to move Sandy into a different group because she wanted to balance out the academic performances within the groups. Both Sandy and Danny were pretty sad they were no longer group mates. Sandy and Danny realized they really liked spending time with one another. One day, Danny asked to borrow a bottle of blue puffy paint from Sandy. When he came by her house to pick it up, he used that opportunity to ask her to the homecoming dance. They had such a fun time together and were inseparable ever since then. Sandy and Danny started officially dating in December of 2007. They later went on to different colleges—Sandy at UCI and then UCLA and Danny at Cal Poly SLO. Despite the challenges of a long-distance relationship, they were able to get through it. They moved to Seattle in June 2018 when Sandy got accepted into nursing school. After graduating, they moved back home and purchased their first house together in January 2020. After almost 14 years together, Sandy and Danny are super excited to celebrate their wedding with all their loved ones this coming January!
