Visit the Royal Palace and walk around its gardens called Jardines de Sabatini. Perfect plan for a sunny afternoon!
One of the main squares in the city. It is very popular and touristic to have “bocadillo de calamares” (calamari sandwich) in one of the terraces.
A temple donated by the Egyptians. Watching the sunset over there is very recommended.
The biggest park of the city (activities to do: going on a boat at the pond, walk around beautiful peacocks, visiting "El Palacio de Cristal" (the Glass Palace) or having lunch or drinks at Florida Park -a renovated bar/restaurant/club.
This might be the most important square since Km 0 is here and the tower clock marks the New Year. This is when we eat 12 grapes that will bring us luck for the following year.
In the past it was the main door ("puerta") to access the city. The church where we will be getting married is really close!
In this "plaza" (square) you could find the fountain where the Real Madrid team celebrates all their victories. You can also visit the beautiful building behind which is the City Hall: it has nice art exhibitions and you can go to the rooftop to enjoy the view of Madrid.
Madrid's Cathedral. Just stunning!
This main avenue was very famous years ago as people used to think it resembled New York City. It is a shopping district with huge stores but a theatre district as well with very big cinemas and theatres.
Madrid is known as the capital of museums and this is one of the most famous ones. Be aware that you could spend a full day visiting the entire place! Don't forget to visit these other important museums: -Museo Sorolla (one of my favorites!) -Museo del Romanticismo -Museo Reina Sofía
Also one of my favorites!
This is an art exhibition center that has become very popular due to the beautiful view from the rooftop. You can pay the ticket there and an elevator will take you to the rooftop. I recommend to watch the sunset as there is a chill-out area with a bar and a restaurant. This picture is taken from there!
You shouldn't miss the markets in Madrid so at least you should go to one! This one is really touristic now but it is so worth it. It is very beautiful and they have different quality food stands. Some other ideas for markets: -La Paz: here you can find "Casa Dani", a restaurant with the best Spanish omelet ("tortilla de patata"). I personally prefer the one from these restaurants: Colósimo or Cañadío. -El Rastro: a very traditional outdoor market that you can visit on Sundays. There is such a good vibe due to all the small bars in the area. -San Antón -Chamberí -San Ildefonso
Famous for its "chocolate con churros". If this is far from you, you can try it at any café called "Valor".
Botín, founded in 1725, is the oldest restaurant in the world according to Guinness World Records. It's famous for its roast suckling pig mentioned in a Hemingway novel.
The stadium where Real Madrid plays. You can book a tour to visit the inside.
