The Baraat is traditionally when the groom's family is welcomed into the bride's home just before the Nikkah begins. Since our Nikkah is not at the bride's home, the groom's family will be welcomed into the event space. This is a joyous few minutes with music and cheering and is meant to make the groom and his family feel welcome as soon as they arrive!
A Nikkah is a Muslim ceremony representing love, commitment, and respect. Once this ceremony is completed the bride and groom will be religiously married. During the ceremony, an imam (a Muslim prayer leader) will give a short prayer and ask the bride and groom if they agree to union. After, the bride and groom will sign a Muslim wedding contract and the ceremony will be concluded!
Overall, we ask that guests try to dress modestly formal. Everyone defines modesty differently, but as a general guideline please consider avoiding dresses cut far above the knee, open backs, slits, cutouts, and sheer material. Guests are welcomed and encouraged (though not required) to wear salwar kameez. We understand that guests may not have these outfits on hand, so please don't feel pressured to buy them just for this event!
