The first time Rachel saw Sam was when she walked into CrossFit SolaFide and he was wearing an Ohio State jacket. She was excited to meet another Ohioan. Soon after that first conversation, Sam was Rachel's judge during the 2022 CrossFit Open workout. It wasn't until May of that same year that Sam replied to one of Rachel's Instagram stories and the two started talking daily. They had their first official date in August at Strawberry Alley. And the rest is history!

Sam, Rachel, and a bunch of friends took on the 200 mile Bourbon Chase Ragnar Road Race in October 2023. After spending 36 hours cramped in a van, having ran 20+ miles each, barely slept, the teams crossed the finish line together in Lexington, KY! Rachel was trying to get everyone together for a group photo when she turned around and Sam was down on one knee! She was in complete shock! Surrounded by friends and family and still high off the running endorphins, she said YES! After the shock wore off, Rachel shouted "I look terrible!" She quickly got over that once she saw the custom champagne cider their friends, Jess and Ashley, made for that special moment!
