Why St. Vincent Ferrer Church?

Answer

The Dominican Church of St. Vincent Ferrer holds a special place for both both of us. It is at this church we both have grown in the faith and in our love of Jesus. There have been many times we would meet our friends at St. Vincent Ferrer to worship and then hang out—it is a home where lasting friendships were made, a community was formed that together walks with Christ. The Dominican Friars have been serving the community since 1867. For the current structure of St. Vincent Ferrer Church, the cornerstone was laid on October 22, 1916 and the dedication took place on May 5, 1918. The church, designed in grand gothic revival style, is a masterpiece that brings honor to God and leaves anyone who enters in awe. Within the interior of the church you will see the limestone, the gorgeous stained glass, intricate woodwork, and the reredos found on the high altar and the corresponding choir stalls in the chancel. https://svsc.info/our-parish/

What time does the ceremony begin?

Answer

Our ceremony will be at the Church of St. Vincent Ferrer (869 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY). St. Vincent Ferrer is blessed to be run by the community of Dominican Friars. Due to the various parish Mass times, the Nuptial Mass will promptly begin at 3:30 PM. Please do not be late. The Mass is the most important part of the day! Please ensure your own transportation to the church and don't forget to account for traffic and subway delays (hello NYC!).

What do you do at a Catholic Mass?

Answer

The Mass is a public celebration open to everyone! You do not have to be Catholic to attend, as everyone is welcomed in the house of God. We have prayed for everyone that will come and witness to our Holy Matrimony. A program will be provided at the church that has explanations of the different parts of the Mass, bringing detail to some very important moments, and made as easy as possible for you to follow and sing along. Who can receive Communion?

Answer

For Catholics: As Catholics, we fully participate in the celebration of the Eucharist when we receive Holy Communion. We are encouraged to receive Communion devoutly and frequently. In order to be properly disposed to receive Communion, participants should not be conscious of grave sin and normally should have fasted for one hour. A person who is conscious of grave sin is not to receive the Body and Blood of the Lord without prior sacramental confession except for a grave reason where there is no opportunity for confession. In this case, the person is to be mindful of the obligation to make an act of perfect contrition, including the intention of confessing as soon as possible. A frequent reception of the Sacrament of Penance is encouraged for all. For our fellow Christians: We welcome our fellow Christians to this celebration of the Eucharist as our brothers and sisters. We pray that our common baptism and the action of the Holy Spirit in this Eucharist will draw us closer to one another and begin to dispel the sad divisions which separate us. We pray that these will lessen and finally disappear, in keeping with Christ's prayer for us "that they may all be one" (John 17:21). Because Catholics believe that the celebration of the Eucharist is a sign of the reality of the oneness of faith, life, and worship, members of those churches with whom we are not yet fully united are ordinarily not admitted to Holy Communion. For those not receiving Holy Communion: All who are not receiving Holy Communion are encouraged to express in their hearts a prayerful desire for unity with the Lord Jesus and with one another. For non-Christians: We also welcome to this celebration those who do not share our faith in Jesus Christ. While we cannot admit them to Holy Communion, we ask them to offer their prayers for the peace and the unity of the human family.

What should you wear?

Answer

Black-Tie Optional: Tuxes and gowns are preferred, but not required. Men look super sharp in suits! And ladies look beautiful in long dresses. Please be mindful of the Nuptial Mass being celebrated at a Catholic Church and dress with style and modesty.

Answer

There is street parking available at both locations for the ceremony and the reception. Please note that parking in NYC can be challenging. For those that will be driving in we recommend downloading "ParkWhiz", it's an app that lets you see all the parking garages near by and reserve a spot at a discounted price.

Answer

We are very excited for you to share in this very special day with us. Although we would love to invite many more, due to limited space, we have chosen to give preference to married couples and families with small children. Please refer to your invitation if a plus one has been included. We thank you for understanding.

La Iglesia de San Vicente Ferrer, de los Dominicos, tiene un lugar especial para nosotros. Es en esta iglesia donde ambos hemos crecido en la fe y en nuestro amor por Jesús. Muchas veces nos hemos reunido con nuestros amigos en San Vicente Ferrer para adorar a Dios y luego pasar tiempo juntos; es un hogar donde se forjaron amistades, se formó una comunidad que camina unida en Cristo. Los Frailes Dominicos han servido a la comunidad desde 1867. Para la estructura actual de la Iglesia de San Vicente Ferrer, la piedra angular se colocó el 22 de octubre de 1916 y la dedicación tuvo lugar el 5 de mayo de 1918. ¡La misa es una celebración pública abierta a todos! No es necesario ser Católico para asistir, ya que todos son bienvenidos en la casa de Dios. Hemos orado por todos los que vendrán y darán testimonio de nuestro Santo Matrimonio. Habrá programas disponibles en la iglesia que programas que detallan las diferentes partes de la misa y los momentos especiales de la ceremonia. ¿Quién puede recibir la Comunión?

Answer

Para Católicos: Como Católicos, participamos plenamente en la celebración de la Eucaristía cuando recibimos la Sagrada Comunión. Se nos anima a recibir la Comunión devotamente y con frecuencia. Para estar debidamente dispuestos a recibir la Comunión, los participantes no deben ser conscientes de pecado grave y normalmente deben haber ayunado durante una hora. Una persona que es consciente de un pecado grave no debe recibir el Cuerpo y la Sangre del Señor sin una confesión sacramental previa, excepto por una razón grave que no tenga oportunidad de confesarse. Estamos muy feliz de que comparten con nosotros este día tan especial. Aunque nos encantaría invitar a muchas más personas, debido al espacio limitado, hemos optado dar preferencia a parejas casadas y familias con niños pequeños. Consulta su invitación si incluye acompañante. Se les agradece.
