The first time I saw Samuel, he was working behind the Starbucks counter next to my place of work at the time. I admit, he made an impression on me- I laugh now, how quickly I assumed what he was all about! I knew very little & sadly, cared even less! I was "off the market" at the time. Fast forward to the day that relationship ended, the day I consider one of the happiest days of my life! The day my first niece was born, Gwenyth Rose, and the day that Samuel walked back into my life again, September 20th 2014. Pretty ironic I would say, all in one day- a chain of life changing events happened! Before I knew it, a new chapter was starting.
I admit, Alyssa's first impression of me was less wrong than she thinks. But she was the unobtainable forbidden fruit that walked through the Starbucks door. Of course her beauty attracted me first, I won't lie and say that the small talk (or lack thereof) at the cash register is what hooked me. No, it was the mystery. Alyssa, at first glance, is distant and elusive. But boy am I glad I took the chance that I did and found out how wrong first impressions can be. God has a funny way of giving you the courage you need right at the time you need it.
Here we are, three years later, ready to make the biggest commitment of our lives. Discovering more each day how very thankful and blessed we are for one another and relieved at how wrong first impressions can really be! With God's guidance, we walk forward together, hand in hand, writing one page of our book at a time.
