Update for this Weekend!

6/12/2025

The weather for this weekend is looking very mild. High 60s, low 70s. Minimal rain. Should be good wedding weather. But it will be chilly after dark, so you may need a jacket/sweater/sweatshirt. Woodside Dr is a cul-de-sac. Our driveway will fill up, but there is plenty of parking on either side of the road. Our neighbors are expecting the commotion, but please don't block any driveways. Also worth mentioning: there is a No Kings protest rally planned at the Burlington waterfront the morning of June 14th. It ends at 4PM. The main impact will be to traffic near the sailing center, and more limited parking. The hotel is a only a 15min (.6mi) walk to the venue. It's also very pretty, so we encourage people to do this if they are able. You'll also get some first hand exposure to our lively (but peaceful) local discourse! If you do want to park near the venue there should be metered parking along Lake St, but getting to it immediately after the rally may be challenging so allow time for that. If you want to avoid people/traffic on Lake St and just walk, there is public parking at the hotel (College St Garage) accessible from College, Battery, and Cherry St's.

A Nurse and an Engineer walk into a bar....

Actually it was a crêpe restaurant.

Our first date was at the Skinny Pancake, a crêpe restaurant on the wafer-front in Burlington. Sam was beautiful with a great smile. Ramsey was even more charming than usual. After some drinks, a crêpe, and conversation, we had a lovely walk on the waterfront. Sam listened to me drone on about the impressive new building the Sailing Center had constructed (maybe she was listening?). And we walked past the dog-park and shared that we both really wished we had a dog. I don't think we knew what kind of foreshadowing this all was, but we did know we had both found someone special.

The Proposal

An early test

Despite the overcast skies and cold weather I dragged a reluctant Sam and an eager Olive on a walk up to our favorite overlook. The trails were icey. I twisted my ankle about 100 yards into the woods. But I insisted we persevere to the top because as I repeated many times, "I've been waiting all week to go on this walk" (this was a lie, I had been waiting longer). Sam was clearly wondering why I was so determined to go on this walk... When we got to the overlook I speed-walked ahead of Sam and sneakily attached some new dog tags to Olive's collar. Sam eventually caught up and before she could express her annoyance about being left behind she immediately noticed the extra jingle on Olive's collar. "What's on her collar?" "Oh I just stopped and picked up some new tags for her. What do you think?"
