It all starts with two single twenty-somethings who happened to swipe right on Bumble. Lucky for Dan, Sammy thought he was cute enough to spark up a conversation. After texting for a few days they finally met! It didn't take long for Sammy to realize that Dan wasn't just "some Bumble date", he surely was Off The Beaten Path. After discovering a mutual love for The Princess Bride, traveling, camping and coffee, it wasn't long before they were inseparable. From late night dinners to exploring Milwaukee, they did it all together. Dan & Sammy soon moved in together and adopted an adorable puppy named Luna to complete their little family. In the 4 years since they first met, they've traveled together to multiple countries, made countless trips to visit family in Minnesota, supported each other in their own personal endeavors, bought a house and completed their family with the addition of their 2nd puppy Flapjax. Sammy spontaneously booked a trip to an island in Belize with Dan and Sammy's sister, Isabelle. We had the whole trip planned with fun activities and lots of time for relaxation on our own private beach! When we were boarding for our flight, the attendant said that Dan's bag was too large and had to be stowed under the plane. Little did Sammy know, her about-to-be engagement ring was in that bag. Dan couldn't risk it getting lost so he asked the attendant if he could get some things from the bag beforehand. He grabbed what Sammy thought was some cash and his sunglasses. When we finally arrived in San Pedro, Belize, we found out that Dan's bag didn't make the transfer and was stuck in Atlanta until the next day. As you can imagine, this was very frustrating and not part of the plan. We had quite a rough first day there but after we finally got his bag back, we were able to relax and enjoy the beach. Dan thought it would be an un-Belize-able place to ask Sammy to be his wife. While Sammy was relaxing in the hammock on the beach, Dan thought it was the perfect time to pop the question. He ran upstairs to "get his sunglasses" and then came down to lay next to Sammy. He started saying all sorts of sweet nothings to Sammy all while she is almost falling asleep. Then he asked her to sit up on the hammock and she came to find him on one knee holding a ring case. Now if you ask Dan, she started blubbering immediately, but Sammy doesn't remember that part. She was waiting for him to open the ring case before giving her answer but in typical Dan fashion, he made her wait to see the ring until he got a "yes". Of course, she said yes!
