One of our first trips together was a random weekend, 2.5 hours away in a teeny-tiny cabin in McCall, Idaho. There wasn't anything too crazy that happened besides our car spinning out on an icy mountain road, thankfully toward the mountain rather than away and down! We had no cell service but knew we had to stay calm. What we ended up doing was digging out the front wheels by hand and then using signs from Samie's work to create some clean runway under the wheels. We managed to get it free in under 20 minutes (go us!). With our new lease on life we decided to go out onto a nearby frozen lake to go slide around (on foot of course). We continued to drive around for hours stopping at lookouts and chatting about anything and everything we could think of. Our playlist was epic and we bonded over our love and passion for live music. That night we ended up spending hours in front of a bonfire behind the teeny-tiny cabin drinking wine and passing the time with card games and conversations. In the end we both realized just how special this experience was. Being totally present, having to entertain ourselves, and solving some problems together turned out to be the secret recipe. Since then, we have continued to seek out this type of setting (sans the car spin out of course) and every single time we do, we continue to uncover more about each other and grow closer. When we got engaged I don't think either of us necessarily knew what we wanted, it wasn't until we came across Beyul and ultimately decided to stay there for a night that we realized what we had stumbled onto: an opportunity to share this piece of ourselves with our loved ones and hopefully bring everybody together to create some unforgettable memories for yourselves and for us. There's truly something special about a tiny cabin in the woods...
