Instagram, Istanbul and a very manageable long distance...

It all began when Hanah made an innocent decision to follow a man on Instagram because his profile photo suggested one thing- travel blogger. Beautiful sunset. Excellent angle. Strong wanderlust energy. A reasonable assumption. Not long after, Sam appeared in her DMs with a very casual harmless question: “Hey, do I know you?” They didn’t. But they were about to. What followed was easy conversation, effortless humour, and the gradual realisation that Sam was not, in fact, a travel blogger (false advertising, by the way). Even better, he was based in Malaysia and at that very moment, visiting his family in Jordan. Long distance? Technically yes. But close enough to feel exciting rather than impossible. Messages turned into calls. Calls turned into “we should probably meet.” Naturally, they chose Istanbul because if you’re meeting someone you met on Instagram, you might as well do it in a city that feels like a movie set. Also, Arabs...very dramatic. Enough said. What was meant to be a simple meet-up quickly turned into something neither of them saw coming. The laughter came easily. The conversations felt endless. And somewhere between the city streets and shared moments, everything just made sense. From that day on, things changed for the better. A DM became a routine. A trip became a turning point. A very manageable long distance became filled with spontaneous trips, airport hellos, and carefully calculated flight bookings. Sam’s Instagram may have slightly exaggerated. But, it led them exactly where they needed to be. 🤍
