Siena

Siena is a small town located about an hour away from Monticchiello! It's a great place to explore medieval architecture and to do some local shopping. As you wander, you'll be tempted by Sienese specialties in the shops along the way: gourmet pasta, vintage Chianti, boar prosciutto, extra virgin olive oil, and panforte.

Perugia

A city about an hour and a half outside of Monticchiello. Known for it's Gothic cathedral houses and Renaissance paintings and frescoes.

Montepulciano

Montepulciano is one of Tuscany's prettiest towns, strung along a ridge at 605 meters above sea level near the border of Umbria. It is surrounded by walls and fortifications designed by Antonio da Sangallo il Vecchio. Montepulciano is well known for its Renaissance buildings and lovely churches, but is especially renowned for the “Vino Nobile” Montepulciano wines.

Pienza

Pienza is a renaissance town built to embody the Humanist vision of the ‘ideal city’. Pienza is a gem: the architecture blends into the landscape beautifully and the town offers some of the most beautiful views over the Orcia Valley you can ask for. They are also known for their pecorino cheese! A place for foodies and historians alike
