Don't Forget!

We ask you to please not drink before the wedding. This is a SOBER event and we will kindly ask you to leave if you are under the influence.

How We Started

Stafford and I met in dealer class back in June 2015. We became friends pretty quickly, and ended up moving in together in December 2016 because I needed a roommate. We became friends with benefits by March 2017! And it still took until May 2018 to officially start dating. I don't know what took so long! In May 2018, we went on our first vacation together to Quebec City, Canada. We had the best time and realized that's what we wanted to do together: TRAVEL! By October 2018, we had bought a 5th wheel camper, gotten rid of our apartment, and quit our casino jobs! We have seen and learned things that we never imagined, and can't wait to see even more! We visited a total of 14 States before making our way back to Maine for the summer of 2020.

The Proposal

I had never visited Mount Katahdin before, so Stafford promised me we would hike it once we got back to Maine. Once the date got a little closer, we realized it was going to be pouring rain the entire hike, but that didn't stop us! We got there at 6am on September 30, 2020. The park rangers warned us about the dangerous wind, but we didn't get discouraged. Our hike was beautiful, even with the rain. It was like hiking up a bunch of different waterfalls! By the time we reached the tree line, the wind had become so strong, more dangerous, and bitterly cold. We still kept going. Once we got to the sign that said "1 mile from the summit", we felt relieved that we were so close. But the wind just kept getting worse, and the rain hurt the sides of our faces and shoulders. I was getting frustrated because I was so cold and wet, when we saw a sign that said ".4 miles to the summit". Stafford and I pushed on for a couple more minutes, but it was too dangerous. We shouldn't have gone as far as we had, and we had reached our turn around time. So Stafford pushed me down behind a large pile of rocks, to dodge the sharp rain and very aggressive wind. I started crying because we couldn't make it to the summit even though we had made it this far. Stafford got real quiet for a couple minutes (which isn't unusual), and got down on one knee in front of me. I didn't think anything of it because we were so cold and uncomfortable. Then I realized he had his hand in his backpack. So I looked at him, confused. He told me he was going to surprise me at the summit, but since we couldn't safely make it, he would do it right here! And he proposed with the most beautiful ring I have ever seen, in such an emotional situation that I will NEVER forget! He was able to snap a few pictures, even though his phone got pretty wet doing so. It was definitely worth it!
